What is the conversion from old writing scores to new writing scores? What would a 29 be on old way of scoring…
@stevphen, your 29 score would roughly be equivalent to a 10 on the old scale.
If you divide by 3, the percentiles seem pretty much identical to the old form. You would probably be looking at a 10
I notice a lot of CCers are frustrated with the delay in writing scores. Does anyone know an approximate date or time frame to receive our score?
Also can someone explain to me the difference between the new and old ACT writing format?
Does anyone have the chart where it converts your writing point total (up to 48) to a 36 point scale?
Also I just wrote a practice ACT essay, so pm me if you can grade it/give any advice. Thanks!
I received mine today (thank god) and @chillkitty and @MellowMutt I just emailed SUNY@Buffalo admissions just to see what they want me to do instead of guesstimating coz the SOAR let’s me input a score from 1-36 soo yeah
I got my MC scores in 2 weeks and Writing score in 3.5 i think. My scores for june came out pretty fast as well
They haven’t even sent my MC scores
What the heck…People who took SAT in October already got their scores…and I’m here waiting for my scores from September.
My S must got his writing scores! Anyone from the Westhill HS in Stamford, CT should check!
I got horrible SAT scores today and I’m still waiting up on my ACT MC score (it’s been close to 6 weeks). It’s all riding on that, I’m hoping it’ll be at least 32 or higher…So freaking pissed
If they don’t come by Friday, I don’t know what I’m going to do. I can’t live in this bad mood for another week. God this is so FRUSTRATING!
@tan075 I know!! It’s so frustrating
Chatted online with ACT today (cannot get through via phone)…only “different” thing they said is that they are reporting writing scores daily (vs. Wed/Friday), so to check daily. Great. As if we haven’t already been doing that. We are in Austin,Texas. I’m wondering where the people who have gotten their writing scores are located or is this just random?
It seems random…
I emailed ACT customer service calling them out on their mess and said that they “screwed over everyone applying Early Decision and Early Action”. This is the BS answer I received:
“Writing scores are added as soon as they are available, usually 3 weeks after the multiple-choice scores. Each college or scholarship agency selects the method and frequency of reporting—at least every 2 weeks.
Your scores will not be released to colleges until all of your scores are available for reporting.”
Of course there was no apology, but from how I understand this answer, they just confirmed that they did indeed screw everyone over.
Why does ACT take so much time…
Oh I chatted ACT, and they said this, “Actually, just today an email went out to all colleges we send score reports to informing them that the writing scores are taking longer to score than anticipated.”
Really hope it isn’t this bad on the upcoming ACT this Saturday. I still don’t have my writing score.
got composite of 34 on this one… still don’t have my writing score though. getting really anxious!!
Check out this article. ACT finally admitting they are having a problem with reporting scores
Article describes it as one of the biggest fails in the history of standardized testing!
