***SEPTEMBER 2015 ACT DISCUSSION THREAD***

Btw for those without the Writing scores, how are we supposed to fill out the CommonApp? My Testing section is incomplete due to the absence of Writing scores but this is the only ACT I’ve taken so I have no other way of filling it. What should I do to submit the CommonApp if my Writing score did not come out by 1st Nov?

I would probably just not self-report your scores. I don’t know what else you could do

I really think this fiasco could be fatal to the ACT organization. I know all the juniors at our school are now planning to take the SAT rather than the ACT. SAT got all their scores out in less than three weeks from the test date.

@tonymom - It was first thing this morning

Lol you’d think they have the writing scores before the next test date. Don’t know if I should go or not tomorrow. I really really don’t want to but I don’t know how I did on writing.

@pinkish21 Yes, it very well could be fatal for ACT. On the other hand, the SAT is undergoing a major overhaul as well, and let’s not forget about the June 6 SAT fiasco. Both organizations are not fulfilling their promises…it’s shameful that students have to rely on these unreliable corporations.

So I got a 36 on the writing - how hard is that to do? Will this help me at all with admissions? (I also have a 34 composite)

Has anyone received the writing score today? Thank you.

I haven’t! and I REALLY need it.
Why can’t ACT pull itself together. Several students out there like me are struggling to apply for early action.

I just applied Early Decision without using the self-report option. Instead, in the additional info section, I wrote about all the stuff that happened and self-reported over there the Composite and the rest of the scores apart from the writing score

How long does it take ACT to delete a test date record from the time I send out my written request? I would like to delete my September ACT, but would like to know if it’ll be gone by mid-December. I want to see my October ACT score on November 10 before deleting my September score. If anyone has deleted an ACT score from their test date record, please inform me.

@ccmember11598 Nice! The 36 should help some, it is relatively difficult to achieve that score, especially since the scaling is different. However, I don’t think it alone will not be that significant to your admission decision, despite a friend’s claim to have gotten in because of his 12 on his essay.

@AsianHope I believe it takes about one to two months for the entire deletion process to take place.

So my best bet would be to delete my September ACT score now, before I receive my October one? I also took the June ACT and scored higher than September. I’m just a bit paranoid that them seeing my request to delete my September score will negatively affect my October score.

If your June score is better than your Sept score begin the deletion process now. It takes 8 weeks. Also make sure your ACT scores will not be on your transcript or in the GC report.

Thank you! Any suggestions on what to write in my written request?

Fax your request to delete your score. It is faster. It could be deleted within a within a week. Then make sure with your high school that it get deleted from your high school records.

Do you have ACT’s fax number?

@AsianHope I suggest you mail in your request. ACT does not seem to provide a fax number on their website. If you insist on faxing them, email them before you do so to make sure it is acceptable.

When is the last date I can send my scores (using the rush option) and make them reach my college by November 1?
