***SEPTEMBER 2015 ACT DISCUSSION THREAD***

@3dloser Put in your English score for the writing and let them know in additional information. When you get it back, let schools know of the discrepancy assuming there is one. That’s what I did and it was fine.

Finally received writing!
Scores are complete
36 C
36 E
36 M
34 R
36 S
36 W

@tonymom They post throughout the day, but seem to stop by dinnertime.

ACT constantly states that all the scores will be scored by November 6th. This BETTER be true.

Im really happy with my scores. I am a junior. I am wondering if next year I can still send my scores from this year to colleges during application season. I can save my scores and send them next year, with the appropriate fees, right?

We just received two emails from ACT explaining the delays with the writing scores and suggesting options, all of which are unacceptable. Has anyone else received this email? Any significance to it? Also, have writing scores been coming out all day or just at 8:00 a.m.?

@pinkish21 I’ve received this email. I think they tried to also send one to my school counselor but it accidentally went to me. I think it’s just notifying people who weren’t already aware that something is up.

Wait Im concerned - I just sent my scores right now for my early action college (Nov 1) since I just got them. Both schools Im applying to only accept electronically, and therefore there is no priority sending option. Will they get there on time? Will this affect my application???

They may or may not get them on time, but it does not matter. Scores are a “soft” deadline, meaning that you will not be penalized as long as you sent them, although you will likely get an email from time to time until they do receive them. The Common App itself is a “hard” deadline.

@TheIG19 Yes, you can send your scores from any of your high school years.

@TheWaffleMan149 - That is not true for University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. If anyone is applying EA there, can they confirm: The standardized test scores need to be reached by November 1.

I emailed UMich though regarding the September ACT, but they still haven’t replied back.

Oh ok. Sorry for the false info then. That is what my college counselor told me

@ccmember11598 If you’ve already sent in your scores, they should reach the colleges in a few days maximum. ACT did mention on their website that if you paid for scores to be sent on October 30th, the colleges should receive them by November 1st

Called the 4 schools my daughter applied early action, some knew about this, others not. All expected common app by Nov 1. They ALL said that they are fine with scores arriving by Nov 30. Since ACT says the scores will be out 11/6 at the latest, it should be OK since they all her schools accept electronically. Now lets hope the scores DO come out 11/6. Have you all seen this? http://www.examiner.com/article/act-urges-students-to-send-screenshots-of-scores-to-colleges What a fail indeed. Suggestion, just call admissions at your EA schools to see when they expect the scores. As someone said earlier, the Common App is a hard deadline Nov 1.

My writing score just kills the vibe of my MC scores. Smh, I am not liking this new grading scale. Scores look better on the 1-12 scale in my opinion.

I can confirm that the University of Michigan will not consider your file complete unless they have the actual scores by November 1st. You can hear this information for yourself if you phone the admissions office there; it’s on the recording you hear when you call. You must send old scores or you will not meet the deadline.

@GossamerWings - Does applying EA to UMich give you an advantage for admission? If not, I will just wait for regular decision.

Just checked online, and writing score is here today, for Sept. ACT for daughter. Yay!

Lucky for you! My daughter still waiting. SOOO upset with this ACT organization.

Nothing here. Still waiting…
