I’ve been reading about how kids don’t think their getting in because of various reasons, so I’m getting afraid!

What are my chances?

I’m 17, Native American (Iroquois), haven’t gotten my ACT scores back yet, public school, top 5% in class, and looking into Linguistics for my major at Cornell (and possibly taking Arabic as a concentration or minor). Not many extracurriculars: Varsity Volleyball (captain), Tennis, Swim, and Writers Club. I’m taking a Seneca Language course in the spring of 09 at Buffalo State College. Based on that, What are my chances? Any thoughts?

if you are a registered member of the tribe, then you are a shoe-in.

Seriously, chendrix is right.
If you’re a registered Iroquois with that kind of rank and those very unique interests (A Native American who’s interested in Linguistics and Arabic), you’re almost definitely guaranteed admission.
HOWEVER, I may be wrong and Cornell may find a reason to reject you, so don’t take this too literally.
You’re chances are quite good, in my opinion.

I’m indeed enrolled and I also went to Cornell Summer College, so I’m hoping both will play into my application.

Yeah, absolutely.
You have a great shot.
No one’s a shoo-in though, Cornell can be fickle if it wants to be.
