The people who read my essay said it was good and I hopefully have good recommendations.

Do you know what your weighted GPA is? Also, how was your courseload compared to your classmates? And rank? I don’t know of the average UW GPA for UMD is, but I’d imagine the vast majority have at least a 3.5. Your SAT/ACT scores are on par, maybe slightly above. With that said, I would think that your chances are slim, especially since your OOS.

Hmmmmmmm…this is an interesting one because your SAT scores are above avg. for MD. I knew a lot of kids in the honors program with similar SAT scores which says to me that if they’re good enough for honors there’s tons of kids here with worse. Your ECs show you have some passions and I think that’s fine too.

I think the above poster exaggerates when he says most kids at UMD had a 3.5 or above. I think UMD regularly admits kids from very rigorous programs with lower. If you are taking a full load of honors/AP classes a GPA below a 3.5 is not out of the question for admission.

THAT SAID you don’t seem to have taken the MOST rigorous course at your HS…that usually involves 2-3 APs before senior year. And your GPA is well below 3.5, not just slightly.

You are def. on the fence but I’m gonna go with you might have to prepare yourself for a rejection due to the GPA. Good luck tho.
