SEVEN W's!!!PLEASE HELP!!

ok all heres the deal. I went to community college at 18 and had some pretty serious problems at my home. As a result, i left with 15 credits, scattered throughout 3 semesters, with a 3.2gpa. Doesn’t seem THAT bad, right? The problem is that I had SEVEN, thats right,SEVEN W’s!!

Since then, I took a year off school and relocated to a better living situation. I now am a senior at Xavier University. Since my community college fiasco, I have a perfect 4.0 GPA, with a cum. of roughly 3.9. How bad will this semester kill me? Should i just release it from the Xavier transcripts and pretend it never happened, and just suck it up and attend an extra semester???’
All help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What is your question? You WILL have to report those grades to law school! So, they did happen! Pretending otherwise will not help you. On the other hand, it will make you look dishonest.

If you have a 4.0 at Xavier as you mention, and have done well up until this point -with the exception of that CC–, you should be ok. Grade Trends are often analyzed. It also depends where you plan to apply to, and how you do on the LSAT. Granted, you may not make it to a Yale or Harvard --or you might, if your application is strong enough in other aspects–, but there will definitely be a law school that will take you!

Also, I would definitely address that “bad luck” semester/year on an addendum.

Hope this helps. Best of Luck!

I had an uncle with less than a 2.0 his first semester of college and he got into Columbia Law School. As he said to me, address the issue, don’t try to hide it.
