How often were you sexiled?

Or, would you put up with being sexiled?

Where do you draw the line?

(For those that don't know the term, sexiling is when one roommate forces the other out of the room encounters.)

I was lucky, my roommate's girlfriend lived three states away. I knew this when I selected him as a roommate, and it worked out well.

We worked out an agreement, we are allowed to kick the other out of the room one night a week, and after that we have to do something for the other, such as buy them a meal or do some cleaning for them, etc. Since they lose the comfort of their own room for the night, we felt it was fair.

However, it was kinda one sided since he never kicked me out since his girlfriend lived so far away. However now they have broken up, so this next year I'll see how it works out. Honestly I only agreed to that agreement in the first place since I knew he would never be kicking me out, lol.

IMO though, if it's mid-afternoon or dinnertime or something, it's not as bad. Just take your laptop elsewhere and read/browse the internet/watch TV, etc. It's only at night that it really matters.

I was sexiled once every other week, and I think I expected about the same from my roommate. We both had boyfriends. Talk about it from day one and there will be no surprises.
Honestly, having a roommate requires a lot of doing for someone else what you would like them to do for you. It's really not as big a deal as you might think... just go hang out with another friend in his/her room, watch TV in the basement of your dorm, grab your laptop and get some work done.
We usually gave each other an hour-ish, and it was probably a good thing. It forced be to be social and make friends in the beginning. Sometimes it broke up my evenings when I would have just wound up sitting in my room, doing nothing.

as long as it werent during finals or midterms or at 4am or something, i wouldn't care.

Never, and no I wouldn't. Unless my roommate told me well in advance (read: maybe a day) that he'd be having relations in our room, and allowed me time to find a place to crash for that night. And if I couldn't, then tough nuts for him.

Freshmen year, my roommate and I had an agreement that it was allowed so long as you texted the other as a warning. Also, neither of us ever sexiled each other at night. Afternoon or evening was fine, but everyone got to sleep in there own bed at night. Mind you, we were both of the opinion that first place to go was the guys room, as a "hos before bros" token to each other.

I know far too many people who've walked in on a roommate. Communication is key. Also, I know way too many people who thought it was acceptable to kick out a roommate 3 nights in a row. Not at all (unless a long-distance relationship was the case, and you can plan ahead for that).

We never really discussed it beforehand, but it happened pretty frequently for her (i.e. I was kicked out). I can only think of a couple times I did it back.. I'd rather just go to the guy's room. Anyways, after one night where I was rather belligerent and she had locked the door from the inside and it was 3 AM, we decided to implement a plan of at least texting on the way back, or something.

I always wanted to write "gettin' jiggy wit it" on our communal board, but our marker stopped working....

Before my roommate moved in I made him agree to not sexiling me between 11pm and 7 am and text me if I shouldn't get back for a couple of hours. It worked well during the week, because I was basically working or doing my homework elsewhere most nights. We clashed somewhat on the weekends sometimes when he wanted me to convince to sleep elsewhere or when I wouldn't let him know that I wasn't getting back before 5 am. But nothing major.

How about when your roommate comes back with a girl at 3am while you are "sleeping" and does it there? :(

I don't really think my roommate did much though. I just heard a lot of slurping. I think it was kissing. I hope it was just kissing 0.0

Never sexiled (active or passive). Neither I nor my roommate would be willing to be sexiled at any time during the day.

Fortunately, neither one believes in premarital sex as acceptable, so...

One of my roommates started to sexile me 3-4 nights a week. I left her a note one morning to ask that she tell me beforehand whether her boyfriend was spending the night because I really missed being able to get into my room. [She would lock the door and put chairs or furniture in front of the door so I could unlock it, but couldn't open it.] She completely ignored that. Next chance I got to get into the room, I went in, stayed, and didn't leave that night. She and her boyfriend just had to deal with me being in the room. I figured this would dissuade them since it must be awkward to continue with someone three feet away. But they went on with me there.

Finally just reported her to the RA and she was asked to move out of the dorms [for several other issues as well].

^Wow. She sounded like a real a pain in the ass to live with.
At least you took the high road.

I would have suffocated her in her sleep.

If your roommate's a jerk about sexiling, and he/she keeps condoms in the room, punch holes in them with a sewing needle.

Damn DC, that's not nice. ;)

Anyway, I am glad I never had to worry about "sexiling" I have a single and so will my bf. But this year, we got busy when both roommates left for the holidays...hehehe...

Just put a sock on the doorknob, it's the universal sign.

It's part of living in the same room with someone else, you gotta give each other personal space from time to time.

Just go down the hall to a friends room, no big deal.

I was never sexiled and never sexiled my roommate. We agreed that we could invite a boyfriend over if the other girl was out for the night anyway, which happened frequently for both of us. It was a rule, however, that you weren't to pressure the other roommate to leave.

I know it's not on topic, but which are most common places apart from one's room to get laid and is it legal to have fun somewhere else?

"If your roommate's a jerk about sexiling, and he/she keeps condoms in the room, punch holes in them with a sewing needle."

No, make a really big hole in the package. Sabotage it very obviously so a) your roommate doesn't have anything bad happen to him/her, but b) knows someone is screwing with him/her and it ****es him/her off.

I got sexiled at most once a week. I really didn't care about it since it was not frequent (unlike the person who got sexiled 3-4 times a week) and I was warned about it beforehand giving me time to make other plans.
