did you intentionally copy my exact post, or do we just think the same?

omg, we wrote the exact same thing! weird…

haha, nah, just kidding. I meant to quote your post and say something like “I totally agree”…somehow I forgot to add my own commentary and now it’s too late to edit.

Sorry.

“umm…get over it. Stop insisting that the world needs to be this politically correct utopian 24/7.”

so we should just give up?

give up? you think this is some terrible tragedy occuring: a waiter giving the check to a guy? It’s a stereotype. Is good? No. But they occur all the time. Frankly, it is a stereotype for the OP to assume the waiter just assumed the guy was gonna take care of the check. Maybe you looked at the waiter, making him seem like you trying to flag him. If not, so what? The fact that the OP is considering talking to a manager and having this guy fired is the most absurd thing I have ever heard. Like I said, get over it!

and the OP would get distressed from paying…at least his share of the meal? I feel it is the OP with the issue, not the waiter.

Smallz, I never said that I wanted him fired. I was not distressed about paying (my friends and I take turns, and it was her turn) but the fact that the waiter automatically assumed that I was the one paying. And no, I didn’t look at him… I was in a deep conversation with my friend at the time.

I can’t fathom why you don’t believe his behavior should be corrected.

Wow. This is ridiculous. He didn’t do anything wrong and I wouldn’t consider that sexist. If he assumed you are on a date, maybe he is a gentleman and thought that you would pay. That’s not really sexist. I don’t see a problem. Also, he may have just handed it to you because it was more convenient to hand it to you. It’s not like he shoved it in your face and said “You have to pay for her dinner!” You could do whatever you wanted with it after he handed it to you. I think I like this guy. He seems like a good person.

do you over-analyze everything that happens to you this much?

Him handing you the check is not sexist! Sexist would be if he said “you, as the male, should pay for dinner, it’s your duty”.

Because there is nothing to correct! You are having a fit because, literally, someone handed you a piece of paper.

Yes, his behaviour should be corrected, if he actually thought that (it most probably was involuntary). That’s not the worst case of sexism ever, though. How about fathers killing daughters as soon as they’re born (female infanticide) in India?

That ^^^ is horrific.

Did anyone see the “I Am Man” Burger King commercial? I got so upset that I joined the movement to get it pulled off the air.
