SGR, what are safe grades?

I was SGR’d today, would B’s be considered safe spring grades?

thanks

Depends what your major is and what classes the grades were in.

Mech E., engineering physics and statics…

those were the only classes i could take this semester since i’m completely done with GE’s and math. I’ve taken everything except the last semester of physics and dynamics, but i cant take them without the classes im currently enrolled in. the semester ends next week for us.

If those grades are from a 4 year university similar to USC you should be fine

A reputable local JC…

But they are the equivalent classes to the core classes at USC… transfer and all that.

I think you’ll be fine. Have you heard anything from admissions yet?

i think a 4.0 would be safe

Ha, I agree straight A’s would be the safest route. Just asking opinions invade I can’t pull it off… although there’s a good possibility I can still get a 4.0. We have finals on Monday.

No I haven’t heard anything back yet. I’m a transfer applicant and found out about the sgr on Friday. My semester ends next week so the soonest I expect to hear back from them is a couple weeks after that.

In case** I can’t pull it off

i mean if it is do or die time, one last semester, the final sprint before USC…who wouldnt get a 4.0?

I ignored all friends and studied 2 times i normally did incase i got a SGR… i have no regrets since i can now dump those friends for good ^_^

Miss those days. This is my second degree… I’m probably a lot old than most the people on here have a family and my life isn’t as simple as just school.

What major have you been accepted for?

Older*… I’m boarder line A/B right in the classes.

Right now* (grammatical errors are due to typing on my phone ha)

I think the true definition of “safe” would be equal to your previous GPA.

“i mean if it is do or die time, one last semester, the final sprint before USC…who wouldnt get a 4.0?”

A 4.0 is appealing but a little harder to get in these more difficult classes. you posted that you were accepted as an International Relations major and that you’re planning to take Calc 1 this summer. Ive taken Calc 1-3, Diff. Equ./Linear Algebra, Engineering Physics series (I & II so far) and transfer level engineering courses. Dont mean to sound like a a-hole but from experience and any engineering major would probably say a 4.0 doesnt just come to you like it does when taking lower div non-science classes. My other degree is a BA, im saying that since ive taken econ./poli. sci./hist./soc. Congrats anyway on getting in though.

@bandtenhut, thanks. that’s sort of what i figured. seems like getting an sgr is like saying ‘we’d like to admit you but want to be certain you’re consistent.’ matching the gpa i applied with, which has gotten me this deep into the application review process, seems to be what they’re looking at.
