Ok, I am so not the typical person who has to have the newest technology. Took me years to learn to text message, and back in the 80’s I actively made fun of DHs idea to type all my recipes into the home computer…
That said - I can imagine choosing my iPad over my phone and even my regular laptop. The battery lasts fore er,compared to the 2jours I get from the laptop. ( ok, so the spell chech just proved itself a bit lightweight ). It weighs nothing on my lap, I can surf the net all night, answer work email, shop, etc

I love mine too. It’s a simple thing, but I read the Boston Globe everyday with a cup of tea in my favorite chair. It makes me feel closer to my son in Boston. I also love it because I can watch television shows and movie anywhere. Plus it’s just so much easier on my eyes than the iPhone.

My husband also thinks I “need” one, but I have declined the offer so far. Don’t get me wrong, I know I will fall in love with an iPad; that is the problem! I am already so wired that I am afraid my family will never be able to see me not connected to either my iPhone, Macbook, or iPad if I were to own one!

I’ve been thinking about to buy the iPad.
My only concern is Flash.
I watch videos from Youtube all the time.

I heard some other companies will sell similar tablet early next year (with Windows).
Should I wait few more months to get a Windows tablet or just go ahead for the iPad?

I was at Office Depot today & saw several other tablets that run with companies other than AT&T. Didn’t pay too much attention, but I believe one was for a Verizon & one was for a Sprint model. Not quite sure I want one yet–will be a new addiction that I’m not sure I want in my life. Maybe we’ll think more about it if & when H retires in a few years. By then, I suspect more bugs will have been worked out.

Apple owns me. iPhone, iPad, Macbook Air. But if I could only have one, iPad hands down. I keep wanting to touch the screen on the Macbook!

The one thing about the iPad though is the sometimes crazy corrections it makes as you type. Has anyone else noticed it capitalizes the names of most colleges, but not Harvard!

Very timely. DS#3 turns 17 today. He’s not really expecting anything in the way of presents, but will be opening his shiny new iPad when he gets home from school. Felt like kind of a splurge, but I think we’ll all have fun with it. (We’re down to one desktop at home. All our hand-me-down laptops kind of died off.) (I am a little concerned that I’ll have a hard time putting it down when I’m home alone.) (Yikes!)

On DHs iPad right now. I thought it was unnecessary as we are loaded up with gadgets but we both love it. Favorite app is words with friends. Biggest drawback weird typos.

Love my Ipad. And about the youtube…there is a youtube already installed when you get it and I have never had an issue with it playing any youtube video. Just FYI.

I am excited that my D’s grandparents are getting her one for graduation. I am hoping the new version will be out by then!

I love that I can plop it down on my kitchen counter and have thousands of recipes at my fingertips. I used to bring the laptop to the counter, I have a lot more room to cook now!

On a funny note…I received this email yesterday…a joke about all things “i”.

It all began with an iPhone…

March was when my son celebrated his 15th birthday, and I got him an iPhone. He just loved it. Who wouldn’t?

I celebrated my birthday in July, and my wife made me very happy when she bought me an iPad.

My daughter’s birthday was in August so I got her an iPod Touch.

My wife celebrated her birthday in September so I got her an iRon. (iron)

It was around then that the fight started…

What my wife failed to recognize is that the iRon can be integrated into the home network with the iWash, iCook and iClean.
This inevitably activates the iNag reminder service.

I should be out of the hospital by Thursday!!

There is an iPad in the closet for Santa and Mrs. Santa and a MacBook Pro for DD. Will Santa and Mrs. Claus fight about sharing an iPad? Santa already has a Kindle. What is the wisdom of CC?

Only if you opt for the 3G service. My iPad is wireless only, so I need to be connected to a wireless network. Not a problem at home, and when we travel we usually stay at hotels or relatives with Wi-Fi. DH has an iPhone, so we can use that thru 3G if there’s anything we absolutely have to access while in the car or someplace without wireless.

I AM one who has to have the newest technology, but I am making myself wait for iPad 2. It will be lighter and will be able to print. I’m having trouble waiting. Everyone on the airplane but me seems to have an iPad. I drag around my heavy work laptop… We will be allowed to get our work email on the iPad (we have to buy the iPad ourselves). For now I have my laptop, my iPhone (personal) and my work Blackberry.
