oh my…just tried Oikos KEY LIME Greek yogurt and was amazed. This could be a dessert!

what is your newly found fave food, product, what-have-you?

I had the EXACT reaction to Oikos Greek yogurts about 6 months ago!
How can they be so nutritionally good for you, pack soooo much protein, contain so few calories and taste so incredible???
How do they do that?
I’ve been on a non diet, mindful eating plan since January. I credit oikos in part for my success in avoiding carbs and losing 20lbs so far. Greek yogurt and unsalted roasted Almonds are my new go to snacks…So satisfying I’m really (kind of) not missing ice cream and chocolate!

My fav oikos flavors are cafe aulait and Carmel macchiato (forgive my spelling)

I am also crazy about the non fat Greek yogurts. I like the plain mixed with partially thawed fruits from Trader Joe’s (berries, mango). If it’s overly tart I’ll sometimes add a sprinkle of stevia. I’m going to look for those flavors, musicmom. coffee ice cream has always been my favorite.

Yes, the Oikos Greek yogurts taste like pudding and are delicious. They aren’t really low-fat, though – each has 4.5 gms of fat. They also aren’t low carb and low sugar. BUT they have a lot of nutrition for the fat/carbs/sugars they do have.

You’re going to MAKE me have to try it, evil!

Oikos does make nonfat yogurt. (Oikos is Dannon; I didn’t realize that until I double checked about the nonfat.) I usually buy Wegman’s own.

As much as I LOVE the “regular” oikos Greek, I HATE the 80 calories nonfat version.
Surprised me. The nonfat tastes very fake and chemically and oversweet.
The regular does have some fat and carbs but so much good nutrition, great bang for the buck.

And in my case, a vast improvement over Ben and jerrys full fat ice cream, so, yeah.
I realize that many here are way ahead of me in healthy eating so it might not fit in their lives so well.

Have you tried the Yasso frozen greek yogurt bars? They are amazing. That richness/heaviness of the greek yogur makes them taste/feel very indulgent like premium ice cream.

Stacy’s Pita Chips! I can’t get enough. Garlic Parm & Cinnamon Sugar. I’ve never been much of a snack/chip person, but these are delish.

Dole Banana Dippers. 100-calorie packs of frozen sliced bananas covered in dark chocolate. Gives me that chocolate fix and helps when I crave ice cream.

Not a yogurt, and not healthy, but I have fallen in love with Dieu du Ciel Rosee d’hibiscus beer. Unfortunately, it’s expensive, $5 for an 11-oz bottle. But it is nectar of the gods.

In that vein, last weekend i had Victory’s DirtWolf Double IPA. Will be bringing a case of that home next trip to the beer store.

NYMomof2 - try the Belgian beer Saison Dupont if you can find someone in your area that serves it. Out of this world. Costs about $10 a bottle but I think it is worth every penny. I am not a big beer drinker, but when I do this is it!

I will try it, HarvestMoon, thanks! But I would prefer to find something less, rather than more, expensive!

What is the DirtWolf like, 1moremom? I don’t know much about beer, but I’m looking for alternatives to wine, which I don’t like as much as I used to.

we love stacy’s pita chips too…with hummas!

also, if you heat up that fab costco/kirkland tomato basil bisque soup, then when you serve, sprinkle some broken pita chips on top…yum!

I haven’t had the Costco tomato soup, but Trader Joe’s has a really good tomato/roasted red pepper soup in a box. My kids love it. I wilt baby spinach into it and add some parmesan. Will have to look for the Stacy’s chips.

Yes! Hummus is the best!! Sabras spicy garlic…YUMMO!

San Pellegrino sparkling fruit beverages in cans (can often be found at Costco).

Waze app on iPhone. Helps beat traffic.

SharkBite pipe fittings. For anyone interested in DIY plumbing.

Santa Cruz organic lemonade. We go through it by the case. We do a lot of Bobbi’s hummus. Love the Tuscan White Bean.

All the talk about yogurt makes me think of Ben and Jerry’s Liz Lemon frozen Greek yogurt. It’s really good.
