Yes, Four Weddings And A Funeral and Green Card and others. Andie is one of my favorites for sure. Most of the time I do not care about plot at all and I am not an expert to appreciate directing and I absolutely cannot watch movies in movie theater, too big. too loud, I have to get out few minutes after the start. Feedler on the Roof is great. But I cannot watch anything like Matrix, I fall asleep, so I stopped. Whenever there is any chase or fighting, it sends me straight to sleep. My H. watches them and then tells me the story, I like it this way much better, it is faster and open to imagination. This includes some TV series.

Yesterday was my birthday, and since I’m ill following our trip to Disney, H brought home a movie for us to watch at home. The New Dark Shadows with Johnny Depp. We both loved it at the theater, and it held up to a repeat viewing. The fact that it is set in the 70s, complete with great soundtrack and performance by Alice Cooper, and the fact that we both watched the original as kids, and the Ben Cross remake later on, made this a wonderful birthday movie.

I enjoyed Four Weddings and a Funeral but I felt as if Andie McDowel and Hugh Grant were a mismatch.

Just watched Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close…it haunted me.

^ Read the book. It is one of the best I’ve ever read.

have the book downloaded, but hadn’t made my way too it yet. Always read the book before watching the movie, but it was on, I was bored and after I started watching I just couldn’t quit. Anyone know if the book follows the movie closely?

^^^

Read the book first and disliked it so much refused to see the movie.

[Today's Special (2009) - IMDb](Today's Special (2009) - IMDb) today’s special. May have been mentioned above. About a young Indian chef funngfhhfhf finding his heritage.

Extremely Loud is a terrible movie. Oh GOD my friend and I were rooting for him to get into a freak accident on the train or something. He gives you no reason to like him at all.

An embarrassment that that was nominated for BP.

^^^Agree, one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. Can’t believe this was Spielberg’s tribute to the victims of 9/11. Absolutely hated the kid.

Saw Seven Psychopaths last night. I haven’t had such a good, laugh out loud, time at the movies in a long time. It is also full of “gasp-worthy” moments. Loved the cast.

Let’s just say I hope to see Cloud Atlas for a second time very soon.

^^ Why is that? Because it was so good or because it takes two viewings to understand it?

I’m trying to finish the book before I go to see the movie – hope to finish today and see the movie tomorrow.

Both, equally. Though as I walked out it hit me and it was amazing.

I saw Cloud Atlas yesterday. When we were leaving, I heard someone say they would have to see it again to understand it better. They did like it.

I liked it too, though I thought some parts of it were superior to others. The part that is set in the far future is far better in the book than in the movie.

For anyone who is reading or has read the book, you might be interested in the current CC book club discussion of the book, which is currently segueing into a discussion of the movie.

If Cloud Atlas doen’t win an Oscar, it will be a shame. I’m not talking about the Best Picture Oscar… I mean the Best Makeup one. It was a good movie overall, but some parts were slow, and in places it smelled of cheese.

H & I saw Argo in the theatre recently and he wanted to see somethng else from that era & requested Charlie Wilson’s War. ( about US role in Afghanistan/Soviet war).
I rented it even though the combination of Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks made me groan, but now I want to see everything Philip Seymour Hoffman has ever been in ( with the exception of Mission Impossible III ).
It was very good and given how picky I am about dramas, totally believeable.

^ Hoffman is terrific but I’d pass on The Magician . . .

We saw Argo today, and I absolutely loved it. The sight of the yellow ribbons brought me to tears, as I was a freshman in college during the Hostage Crisis.

I cannot wait for my son to see it, so we can discuss the events of the time.

For Philip Seymour Hoffman fans, there is, of course, Capote, but another of my all time favorite movies, where he plays a totally unlikable character, is The Talented Mr. Ripley.

Saw the preview for Cloud Atlas. Son is very much looking forward to that one, and I can see why.

^Two of my favorite films with Philip Seymour Hoffman are Doubt and Pirate Radio.
