If you can find it anywhere near you, a French film called The Intouchables is an absolute must see. Everyone in the theater laughed their butts off.

We did a vampire double-feature last week.

The first was Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

This movie is totally a guilty pleasure - I almost feel like I should be embarrassed to be admitting that I watched and liked this movie. It was a lot of fun though. I will say I liked the book a lot better. It will be interesting to watch the upcoming Lincoln movie after having watched this one.

The second was Dark Shadows.

I really enjoyed the first 2/3 of this movie - very campy, lots of 70’s jokes. But then in the last third it seemed to want to become a legitimate horror movie, only it did a very poor job of it. So overall - meh.

Aside from Skyfall being the best Bond movie, it is also GORGEOUS.

But it is 850 glorious pages! Some rainy, cold November weekend, hole up in your bed with Anna, a box of kleenex, a good bottle of wine and a box of chocolates. It will be one of the best weekends of your life.

I really enjoyed Flight, and I’m not even a Denzel Washington fan–but I think this is the best work he’s done. Don Cheadle also does a heck of a job in the film. Because of the nature of the first 15 minutes, this is definitely one to see on a big screen, not at home, so don’t wait.

Another Argo fan here–any movie that can sustain that much suspense when you already know the ending is really something special.

SKYFALL!! It was fantastic! As a director Sam Mendes was an interesting choice and his ability with character driven films has paid off. His first go at an action film is just stunning.

I’m anxious to see Les Mis

Musica we defintely have the same taste in movies. I think Daniel Craig’s Bond is my favorite, next favorite is Sean Connery. ( H likes Roger Moore?)
Plus Jaiver Bardem? Bonus!
( although I’ve never seen him play the bad guy- my favorite Bardem movies are The Dancer Upstairs & The Sea Inside)

^Looove Bardem in The Dancer Upstairs.

EK4—your H prefers Roger Moore…WHAT is wrong with him!!!
After seeing Skyfall----Danny C is now my favorite Bond. Sorry Sean

Javier B is a bonus indeed. And I will go see any movie filmed in Istanbul.

Saw Skyfall last night. Liked it but the one JB movie that will always stay with me is The Spy Who Loved Me.
Waiting anxiously for AK and Les Mis.

Late to the game, but just saw Argo. Fantastic movie - had my heart pounding, even though I knew how it ended.

It brought back a lot of memories I had almost forgotten - I was a senior in high school in 1980. The yellow ribbons, Ted Koppel and Nightline and the newscasters counting the days…

Agree that the preview for Lincoln makes it looks like a must-see.

Seeing Lincoln and Flight on Monday.

Has anyone seen Seven Psychopaths? Would it be something my 81 year old mom would like?

I just saw Argo yesterday…it is one of those movies that will stay with me for awhile…that amazing. I found myself hugging my knees in my seat at the ending! It certainly brought back a host of memories…I couldn’t help but think “cell phone, cell phone, cell phone” at the end.

Also saw Cloud Atlas (a real movie day)! I would have been lost had I not read the book…loved it. Special shout-out to the CC book club peeps!

Skyfall was a bland meal for me. There was a hint of spice when Craig and Bardem met for the first time but then it falls flat again. My H disagrees though and commented that it was okay but Casino Royale was better. Another viewer agreed with me though since I heard someone snoring and people laughing because of this.

Skipped Flight.

DDL must win Best Actor.

I’ll second EMM1’s rec of “The Intouchables”, though maybe I can zero-recommend it, because we saw it over the summer and I might’ve already posted about it (but am too lazy to go look :)).

We saw “The Flat”, an odd and compelling little documentary about an Israeli filmmaker who discovers that his grandparents, who fled Germany before the Holocaust, were close friends with a Nazi officer and his wife…and the friendship continued AFTER the war.

Looking forward to Skyfall and Lincoln and Anna Karenena and probably a ton more. There’s a notorious story about some hapless college student writing about the book AK who foolishly substituted watching an earlier movie version. The movie version was not true to the text. Especially with regard to the ending. :D

I really liked “Cabin in the Woods.”

Felt the same way - just didn’t connect with any of the characters - the villain or Q or anyone else for that matter. The love scene with a random character (in the beginning) and the scene at the end with M left me rolling my eyes. Have to check with the kids if this is a case of me always measuring everything with the Bond of yesteryear and coming up short, or whether they felt lukewarm too. One thing - Shanghai in IMAX looked awesome - perhaps a vacation there some day.
