A blast from the past. The lesser known music of ABBA…

Here is the original… The movie is very sad.

I just discovered Uncle Kracker. I heard something really engaging at TJ’s and asked the checkout guy what it was.

@lje62 --I just saw your Frank Turner post. I have become a huge fan in the last few years, and saw him twice, last summer in Asbury Park and this winter in NYC. Some of the best concerts I’ve ever been to! I highly recommend the next time he is touring.

The Equatics - Doin It!!! Not new, but new to me.

Actually a one off, after winning a Pepsi music contest back in 1972, this band won a prize of recording an album. It is so very good, and I wonder why they never really hit big. The genre is funk, and one tune (Santana Part II) popped up in my iTunes station I had created off of The Essential Sly & The Family Stone album, which caught me instantly and I downloaded the album (I subscribe for $10 a month to all the iTunes I can handle) - If you don’t have access to iTunes, YouTube has the entire album up.

If you like music where you can’t keep still, this might be for you!

@fractalmstr Feel It Still has been the soundtrack to our summer but I really don’t care for the remix much. The original is 100X better.

Live version is sweet, too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ieB0lx-tac

Love “Feel It Still”. Been a Portugal. The Man fan for several years now.

Edit: It’s very hard to punctuate clearly when typing that group’s name!

Not new in one sense, but very new in another:

Kesha’s new album Rainbow is astonishing. I can’t stop listening to it. This is not just standard pop: there’s country, bluegrass, folk, kids’ music, as well as straight pop, rock, etc. Her voice is amazing, certainly not what had been conveyed by her earlier (jerk of a) producer. Lyrics are beautiful, empowering, fun, sad.

Just an amazing work. Highly recommend!

I like the original version too. The music video is way cool B-)

The War on Drugs new album “A Deeper Understanding” is excellent

^Looking forward to hearing that. Really like them!

We’ve had great weather this summer and have been very fortunate to see/hear lots and lots of great live music at outdoor venues.

The last person we saw was Valerie June. If she’s playing near you, check her out. Great show, lots of energy, top notch musicians and a unique sound.

Jason Isbell’s latest album includes one of the saddest love songs ever (BTW, that’s his wife on violin): https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JF45uzdPgd4

Here’s Jason’s tiny desk concert, just released today: http://www.npr.org/event/music/545844291/jason-isbell-tiny-desk-concert

Pentatonix- has anyone mentioned this one? fascinating group of 5 diverse singers a cappella. Wow, just wow.

I don’t think Jason Isbell is much of an unknown, but I started listening to his NPR tiny desk concert on youtube which led to a whole series of tiny desk concerts. What a treasure they are!
