Shawn Johnson on dancing With the Stars - soo adorable

She is so adorable, especially getting all embarrassed with the hip shaking.

I just watched her on DWTS. She was great! It was really funny to see her reaction to the judges’ suggestion to add more “naughtiness” to her dance. LOL.

Kristi Yamaguchi was able to overcome her embarrassment with the help of Mark Ballas. Shawn Johnson couldn’t have a better partner!

I thought it was cute when she said that she wasn’t allowed to dance like that AT HOME! Of course not!

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by Melissa, the Bachelor dumpee. She’s been really good and that salsa she did was quite good for only the 2nd performance.

I don’t watch The Bachelor, but couldn’t help have a vague idea of who Melissa is, because this year’s ending was all over the morning talk shows. She is stupendous! And, to my own surprise, my favorite for this season.

I figure she, Gilles (sp?), and Shawn to be the final three… based on how it looks now. I like seeing that Shawn, a gymnast, is not the starvation body type that has plagued that sport. I can’ remember if she was already well-rounded during the Olympics or has rounded out since then.

Lil Kim and Derek aren’t out of the running, in my book. She cleaned up pretty good for the quick step…

It’s amazing to see them overcome their personal obstacles. They just finished the dance off. I’ll take Steve Wozniak over Belinda Carlisle anyday, even though I really like Jonathan. She was simply boring, while Steve was delightful to watch. It shows that anyone can dance and take great pleasure in doing so.

H & I have taken ballroom lessons for 12 years. It’s our favorite activity, and we have a wonderful teacher who takes as much pleasure dancing with his elderly aunt as with the cute 20 somethings there. The pure, exuberant love of dance is contagious.

I think David Allan Grier has it on the show, too.

I can’t watch DWTS results and still catch American Idol. Didn’t mind in past years, but this year… I don’t like missing the Dance Off. Haven’t seen it yet, but after last night… I definitely wanted Belinda to go. And I agree that Steve Wozniak takes obvious joy in dancing and represents the “everyman/everywoman” who also can do the same. I know he can’t go the distance, or maybe even very far… but I’d like him to stay around as long as possible for that reason.

I don’t know if I like this dance-off concept. Why spend valuable air time watching the 2 worst teams dance?

I think the dance off is a way for judges to protect good stars with a low fan base from getting voted off too early. If such a star ends up in last place, at least now they have a chance to stay based on dancing. Not that the judges would manipulate the scores or anything…

The fan vote still counts, even in the dance off. I’m guessing every Mac owner called in to vote for Steve.

The fan vote does still count in the dance off but I think only 50%. So if the bottom two are a good dancer with a lousy fan base, and a lousy dancer with a good fan base - at least the good dancer now might make it through. Although a high enough fan score might still help the lousy dancer win out. There’s some complicated formula on how they translate the raw fan and judges scores into the combined score. It’s not as simple as 1+1=2, that much I know.

And Shawn was adorable but so not the right costume for her. And Bruno Bruno - like Tom said, she’s only 17! I think she said gymasts were not allowed to move their hips in routines so it was totally a new move for her. Unlike kicking her heel back up to her head, or doing splits at the drop of a hat.

I think she said that she’s not allowed to dance like that at home…Kristi Yamaguchi had trouble with the hip action, but Mark Ballas was able to get her to let loose. He’ll be great for Shawn Johnson.

A lot of athletes have trouble with the hip action. Apolo Ono could not get it at first, too. I can not imagine a gymnast swinging her hips around on a balance beam, I can see how that could easily lead to a non-planned dismount, LOL!
