My son is going this year, first time, tried to go last year, but he is mid-20’s and in graduate school. I hear there are showers. Waiting in line for hours in the car is not my idea of fun, now or ever…I was never that young.

There are showers which cost $7 last year. The lines were too long for me, but one son took two! He used to take a towel to the sand box because he didn’t like his hands being dirty.

So… How many of you have sons or daughters at Bonnaroo 2011? My two are attending this year.

It is SO hot here in middle Tennessee. I wake up every morning and am thankful that I’m not at Bonnaroo. My daughter drove past it yesterday on her way back to Nashville from “the mountain”. Said it looked like a lot of traffic.

My son’s plans to attend fell through - thankfully. No problem with him going to Bonnaroo with a group of friends but he was planning to go with a 16 year old girl (by himself and he’s 19). The girl’s parents nixed it. Yea!

It’s close to 100 here in the South. Sitting in that heat all day sounds like a recipe for a lot of heat exhaustion and sunstroke. They’ve been closing schools up and down the East Coast all week. Hope they stay hydrated.

I asked my daughter, who lives in Nashville, if she was planning to go and she said that the line-up didn’t look that good this year. Frankly, I thought that was secondary to the adventure, but at age 26, I guess she’s all grown up!

So, what happened Teriwtt? I’d like to know if your son ended up going with the teenage girl.

My S is there with 4 buddies. How they and all of their gear fit in one vehicle is beyond me!
Even if the weather was good, you couldn’t pay me enough to go. To each, their own.

My only request was that he text me once a day so I would know he was OK. And, he got the lecture about staying hydrated, and that alcohol was a dehydrator!

Actually, it was my son who wanted to go with the teenage girl (Teriwtt was just responding to my post, I think). No he didn’t go…see post #26. The girl in question got into trouble and her parents said no to Bonnaroo (actually I think they were looking for an excuse not to let her go - not sure why they didn’t just say no to begin with). I had already told my son it wasn’t happening if it was just the two of them.

Wow, I really was NOT paying attention! I just got off the phone with my daughter. She said that the temps have been in the 90’s for a few weeks… Yowser!

Just got a news Tweet that a 32 year old woman from Pittsburgh was found dead at Bonnaroo. No other details yet.

Here’s a link to the story:

[Woman Found Dead At Bonnaroo; Unknown Cause - NewsChannel5.com | Nashville News, Weather & Sports](http://www.newschannel5.com/story/14883070/woman-found-dead-at-bonnaroo-cause-of-death-unknown)

Just read about that. Sooooo glad my kids would never be interested in going to something like that.

I remember, back in the day, when Willie Nelson would always play an outdoor Fourth of July concert in the Austin area. Who in their right mind wants to spend a whole day outside in July in Texas heat, with a bunch of other drunk and stoned people? I can’t believe they didn’t have a lot of people die at those.

How incredibly sad.

I have a cousin there and some friends have adult children attending. If I were 20 years younger and didn’t mind the heat, I’d go for sure.

Yikes. I have a nephew there. And, said boy lost his cell phone just before leaving. But he is with a good friend who does have a phone (and he may as well).

I saw that newsflash when I was at dinner. My older s is at Bonaroo with several of his friends. Took his camping tent and the ond ski intercoms. Said there were so many cellphones the bandwith was probably a problem

My S is there with four friends, all in their 20’s, said he would check his cell phone once a day, but otherwise it would be locked up. He will have tales to tell…

Sorry for typo above-- he took the *old ski intercoms.
I texted him. He said its definitely hot. Hes drinking lots of water. He didnt know about the death.

We live very close to one of the last WalMart exits on the road to Bonnaroo. We have a great time watching the 'roonies as they shop. The best one was a shopping cart full of beer plus one bag of apples.

Finally heard from my d (“It’s fun, crazy, and hot. Everyone is dirty but well”). S’s phone apparently got melted on (ice) and is no longer working. I’ll stay focused on the positive and keep fingers crossed.

teriwitt, I’m with you. I was never into that kind of thing and happily neither kid shows any interest.
