Hi, I have a really low GPA, but I am trying my best to bring it up. This year I’m really trying to challenge myself, so I would love if you could help me out here. I really want to go to Shenandoah University in Virginia. What are my chances as I stand right now?

GPA: 2.8
Class Rank: 257 out of 466
SATs:
Not taken yet. I am hoping that if I do well, I can increase my chances. I take them on October 6th.

This year I am taking two AP classes. AP English and AP Psych. Those are the only ones that I have taken.

Extracurricular:
-Eight school plays/musicals, 4 leads, 2 supporting.
-President of Young Republicans Club
-Speech/Debate Club
-S.T.A.R.T. Criminal Justice Club
-Student Government Association
-Senior Class Council
-Film Crew Vice President
-P.A. Announcer
-Mr. Wright (Contest winner)
-All County Chorus for three years.
-Sang with the Baltimore Symphony Orchesta.

I’ve volunteered as a counciler at a summer camp for children teaching them theatre, which during the camp I worked with a boy with Down’s Syndrome most of the time.

I’ve also done local educational TV shows.

So, what are my chances. I am really hoping to be able to go. What do you think?

I think you are fine as far as Shenandoah goes I mean, Their average accepted freshmen comes in with about a GPA of 2.8-2.9.

On a completely different note, I LOVE your SN. I’m actually thinking about going to Shenandoah for Musical Theatre, cause their program is awesome.

Heh, thank you, that puts my mind to a wee bit of ease. Yeah, I recently played Javert in the School Edition, and it was my favorite role that I’ve ever done. I’m seriously considering a theatre major at SU.

hi Javert. Have you put your application in yet for MT at SU. My dd just auditioned for their dance program. All of your hs stuff has to be in before they will confirm your audition. If they confirm your audition then you know you dont have anything to worry about academically. Now my dd gpa was higher than yours but her SAT’s were not the best. Good Luck.
