shiny things ideas needed

My kids are attending youth group Christmas party where they have to bring a gift with this theme. It’s supposed to be something we already had at home but at this point I will buy something. We are actually hosting part of the party. Along with a piano recital I don’t have much time today.
So CC ers. Any ideas for a shiny thing themes gift for a teen gift exchange. Must work for boy or girl. And since I have 2 to 3 kids attending I need 2 to 3 ideas.

I’ll start. How about a mirror?

When you say “shiny things”, do you literally mean “shiny” …or do you mean something that will catch attention and be desirable?

What’s the dollar value?

My kids love Burt’s Bees lip balms…various flavors…and good for this time of year.

A beautiful Christmas ornament…(if this is a church youth group, then I would look for an ornament with a nativity scene)

key ring with little LED flashlight

book reading light

If it’s something around the house . . .pennies (or other coins) wrapped in foil?

Snow globe? Any kind of silverware. A small metal keychain. Flashlight (we like those little LED flashlights).

Giant jar of silver wrapped Hersey Kisses
Mirrored silver aviator sunglasses
Go to Hot Topic-lots of affordable ideas

Glow-sticks.

Recording of REM’s “Shiny Happy People”.

Shiny colored ear buds. Most teens have some use for them.
Star bucks gift card? They probably have a shiny one.
Roll of change? A pocket tool?

Rustoleum makes shiny silver spray. You can take any object, or something from nature, a rock, pinecone, twigs etc. and spray them silver. You can take ribbon and wrap it around the object. Spray a piece of silverware and tie a ribbon on it to make a tree ornament. Spray a small glass and put a candle in it, spray a jar or small plastic container and put cookies, fruit or candy in it. (Just what you need when you are the host)!

Shiny or glittery nail polish. Shiny ornament for the tree. Does sparkly things count? Some scarfs have some sparkle to them.

If it is supposed to be something you have at home, I think you should abide by that. Seems to me that there is a major point being made there, and breaking the group compact by going out and buying something is not teaching a good lesson.

Do you have ornaments for your Christmas tree? Each kid could take one to give.

I also think that this is something your KIDS should come up with, not you, although it is fine to brainstorm with them. Otherwise, what is the point of this youth group?

Garland, love your suggestions! Also would second the jar of Hersheys Kisses.

wrap ornaments, candy, treats, whatever, in shiny tin foil…done.

Good idea, gosmom. And it isn’t too late for your kids to get together to bake a batch of
cookies to be wrapped in said foil. In the spirit of the thing…
