SHIP qualifications

Hi, I was wondering if it was required to have a HMO in order to be successfully exempted from SHIP… Has anyone been in this situation before?

It depends on which HMO plan you have. You need a HMO that pays a lifetime maximum of $1 million dollars however to qualify for the waiver.

I have a PPO (basically a plan that lets you choose whatever doctor you want to see & way better than a HMO) and I passed with flying colors.

Yea, I found that it wasn’t difficult to qualify either.

ooo i see. for PPO, did you have to specify on the waiver?(since it only asked if you had a HMO or POS) >< was it possible to just put San Diego as the location of care without the need of choosing a doctor yet?

For my PPO, I put “Other”, it should be the third one in the drop down. Well I tried that but it wouldn’t let me; so I just put my current doctor (whose all the way here in the bay area heh and the bay area city his in) and whatayouknow it, they waived me.
