I’ll be a sophomore next year and I think that I want to bring my car…I am from Florida.

Has anyone had any experience shipping cars to Cornell? Or anywhere? Say you were from Florida or California or Washington or something…

I would just drive it there.

Be nice if you had a friend or two to share the drive with - it is a long way for one person to drive alone. Doesn’t Cornell have a bulletin board to post notices for passengers/rides?

Ever heard of Amtrak’s Autotrain? http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Amtrak/am2Route/Vertical_Route_Page&c=am2Route&cid=1081256321200&ssid=136

That would get you and the car to Lorton, Virginia, which is about a half-hour south of Washington, DC.

From there, you should be able to drive to Ithaca in about 8 hours. Only the first hour or two would be in any way intimidating. Once you get beyond the Washington area traffic, it’s a pretty easy drive.

If I were you, I’d just drive it. I’m a car enthusiast though, and I’m always up for a roadtrip.

yea i’ve thought about driving but it’s just a little crazy…that autotrain sounds awesome!! i’ll consider it. i still have to look into shipping though just to see.

hey… this is random but i used to work for a company called american auto transporters they transport cars anywhere from anywhere for you for decent money and theyll deliver exactly to the place you want… aka right to cornell for you. you can look them up online theyre based out of canton massachusetts.

i dont even work there anymore but i feel like an advertisement for them after that haha

lol thank you!!

actually, do you know approximately how much that it would be? from Miami to Ithaca? just ballpark. because you have to request a quote from them and blah blah

oh the whole request a quote thing you can just call them and it takes like 4 seconds to tell you…i was the girl that answered haha id say 700? unless its an suv then a little more… and their rates might have changed. but call if you can

ok will do, yea it’s an SUV…i’ll call and ask.

has any damage to the cars ever been reported?

I would just drive it to Ithaca. I’ve done the drive from Albany, NY to Orlando, FL. Really it’s not the hard. I did it with only mapquest direction and got lost only once. I did it by myself too. It’s a great ride especially if you go through Pennsylvania. The hills are amazing.
