Shipping delays

Are we telling ship stories? Mine is funny. When we moved into our house, we wanted insulated tab curtains for DDs bedroom. Went to the Country Curtains store near us, but the size we wanted was out of stock. No problem, they offered from their flagship store in Stockbridge to be delivered to our house.

Problem was…two months later they still hadn’t arrived.

So I went back to the Country Curtains store, with my receipt. By that time, they had the curtains in stock and they handed me the sets I needed. I was very appreciative.

About three weeks after that, the box of shipped curtains arrived at my house.

So I went to country curtains to return the second set, and they said to just keep them. Really? We didn’t need a second set of dusty rose tab curtains. So…we sent those to our niece.

Update on my missing case of salsa and chile: After three (3) phone calls the the seller, they finally returned my call. Very apologetic about my chile not arriving. They’re re-sending my order and apologized again that it won’t be there before Christmas, not even with expedited shipping (which they’re giving me) since it will take 2 days to get the order together and another day for the boxes picked up by UPS.

Since none of the stuff was gift, I’m not really unhappy about the delay…so long as I eventually get my chile!

It is interesting to me how different the shipping services are in different areas. We get shipment via USPS almost every day. They are wonderful. Almost always on time, and left neatly by my front door.

Fed ex is the worst. Always late and then you have to hunt all over creation to find where they left it, often where it can be rained on even though we have a huge wrap around porch.

UPS is in between, but they are the most likely to damage items. Lots of times it looks like they let a herd of elephants trample all over it.

We are mostly happy with all delivery services. We are fortunate we don’t have porch pirates and we have a large mailbox and an open carport and a bench by our front door. We had had items left at all of those places plus by the front door. We generally see/fund the items the day they’re delivered. Sometimes it gets mixed with H’s stuff in the carport and it may take us a few days to realize it was put there. Shipping times vary but can be as quick as 24/48 hrs even by usps or much longer.

There was a UPS delivery guy with a very good memory for addresses & houses. He had our route for decades and was quite efficient and always knew to go to neighbor across the street to deliver if we weren’t home. He’s retired and we have a slew of differing drivers trying to do what he managed alone before.

Where I live, the USPS folks drive from one mailbox on the street to the next. You don’t get to know your mail person unless you happen to be at your mailbox when he/she drives up to deliver the mail.

Same here, except we have the mailbox at the entry to our long drive, and when something doesn’t fit in the box, the mailman drives up to our front door and leaves the packages on the doormat. I often see him when I work from home and thank him for the great job.

Not a Christmas item, but we ordered three top down shades from Home Depot for our new bay window about a month ago. Delivery was set for Wednesday, December 18th. That morning, we got an email saying “don’t worry, your delivery is delayed but you should get it in 1-3 days”, plus a tracking number. When we checked, the shades were in China! They moved around to another location in China that same day, yesterday they were in Japan, and they showed up on our doorstep in CT this morning!

I must be on Santa’s ‘nice’ list this year as everything I’ve ordered has been delivered on time.

Last Sunday during football I realized Christmas was coming soon (I’m a little slow) so I went on Macy’s and picked out some stuff for my daughter and had it sent directly to her. Some of it was UPS and some was USPS. All arrived by today. I told her if she wanted it wrapped she should ask her MIL to do it on Tues night, otherwise just rip into the brown shipping boxes - but not before Christmas.

I’ve ordered other stuff and it’s all arrived. A centerpiece from my uncle arrived 2 days before it was scheduled.

When my kids were in college, and my niece and nephew too, I’d send Popcorn Factory tins to them. CA, FL, CO, and WY. The Florida one ALWAYS got there last. The WY one was often first. Florida two day mail took 3-4 days USPS. Always (if not longer).

For the first time ever, I have experienced shipping delays from Amazon. I live in a large city with a large Amazon warehouse. Typically, we can get many items delivered same day/next day. In the past 3 weeks, three items that I’ve ordered directly from Amazon (not a 3rd party), that were supposed to arrive next day (per the Amazon website) have been delayed. One item was delayed a week and Amazon wouldn’t let me cancel it. I ended up ordering a similar item that came the next day and sending the original back once it arrived.

Very first world, I know, and I’m not necessarily complaining - I just find it odd. Not sure if it is because of the holidays, or what. Clearly, I am spoiled by Amazon :upside_down_face:

I don’t know what happened overnight, but the items I ordered from Target were due to arrive 12/26 - 12/28. Now Target says they’re due 1/3 - 1/8. Not happy.

Currently have two delayed packages that I’m getting pretty nervous about. The kid has a stuffed bunny that had been a baby shower gift from my grandmother, who is 101 and in declining health. This is THE favorite lovey. A couple weeks ago, the kid asked if he could get another bunny for Christmas because Bunny I has been so very loved that it is becoming threadbare and little holes are appearing with beads leaking out. Of course, the kid didn’t want just any stuffed bunny. The kid wanted an exact replica of the bunny…which was purchased prior to his birth.

But, due to some diligent searching two bunnies were found on Ebay. One of them is supposed to be gifted by my grandmother so that Bunny I and II wil both be from her, as I suspect that it may be the last physical gift she gives him while she is alive. (Bunny III will be a secret in case Bunny II becomes just as worn as Bunny I, or can be gifted to a grandkid if the kid never needs Bunny III.)

Both were shipped within one day of purchase. One was supposed to be here by no later than the 17th and the other no later than the 19th. We also do the 12 days of Christmas, so it’s not crucial that things arrive by the 25th. But a refund is not acceptable, because those were the only identical bunnies I was able to find anywhere. We need the bunnies, not the money back. I’ve asked the seller of the first additional bunny to reach out to USPS because the tracing function needs to know the type of package, how it was delivered to USPS, etc.

All I can say is, I would sincerely appreciate anybody’s prayers, good wishes, crossed fingers, etc, for the safe arrival of at least one Bunny II, and preferably both Bunny IIs.

Oh, it gets my goat that the same company whose package to me took days to get out and now seems to be stuck at a hub in Utah is advertising that tomorrow is the last day to order and have it for Christmas. You don’t get to make shipping promises!!

I placed an order through the JC Penny app for site to store pick up. All items were listed as shipped and in transit but they never arrived at the store. I called the customer service number and they couldn’t help me saying this had to be resolved in the store. I tried calling the store and couldn’t get past the automated phone prompts. I then drive 40 miles to the store for them to tell me I was 1 day too early to call them lost, so I had to make a return trip for them to issue a refund and re order the items. I asked if they could be shipped to home but they were still going to charge the shipping fee. I’m actually glad they weren’t shipped to home as it would be even harder to prove it was lost.

I think everyone’s efforts are getting things moving! Neither bunny had a USPS tracking update since December 14. Well, one arrived in my state at 1:10PM yesterday and the other at 3:51PM, and as of 7:26AM they were both at a distribution center in my city. HOORAY! They are not yet at the house, but I am feeling so much more hopeful. Thank you to everyone who has put some positive thought into the bunnies getting here! I will let y’all know once they (hopefully) arrive.

Episode #3 of the great Chile shipping saga.

The expedited shipment of salsas and Chile was delivered this morning.

The box looked like this:

Inside was mess of several broken jars leaking all over everything.

Although 20 of the 24 jars I ordered arrived intact. I am definitely not happy and I’m waiting on hold with customer service right now.

I’ll never order from this company again.

This was UPS delivering. Both times.

Horrible!!

We are in one wine club. They know better and pack bottles in a bomb proof container… and ship by FedEx air.

Yikes! Truly horrendous that they aren’t capable of properly packing and shipping fragile items. Last year, I had 3 cases of macademia nut oil shipped to me. Not a single bottle broke! All arrived in perfect condition and I used all the brown paper packing as wrapping paper that year.

I ordered a bunch of teriyaki sauce and arrival was similar. Ugh!!!

Bunny II has arrived! I suppose USPS is waiting until tomorrow for Bunny III. Bunny I has played such an important role in the kid’s life that she looks ready to share his love with another bunny, too.
