Shoes and bag for a navy cocktail dress

There are shoes and then there are Jimmy Choo.

You have a lot of options. Black, metallic (not necessarily silver) or nude shoes would all work. And you don’t need to match your bag and shoes, in fact it’s better if you don’t.

I would also choose silver or nude and not black.

Went shoe shopping with my friend last weekend and a pewter color shoe was everywhere

I’ve seen some very nice strappy black sandal type shoes with heels…I think those would look nice. Get a black small bag. That will look nice with your dress.

I like the shoes that are featured with the dress! Feels updated. But see, we all have different tastes. So depends on YOUR taste.

Oh pewter is interesting, I looked around online and they seem to be in. I will go in search of pewter or silver shoes.

We were told that navy is THE hardest color to match…lots of different “navy blue” colors. Just FYI.

Daytime? Red or Yellow or Green matching shoes and bag?

@kiddie this Macy’s look is OK but not wow! I think a nude or light tan would be great and updated and more formal. @bunsenburner - I love this shoe, and I think this is perfect based on what I am imagining the dress to be.

I love the consensus on pewter, and now I want some for myself. I am thinking pewter is the new tan!

Navy would be too matchy, I’d go for a floral platform or design with a bow with a low heel or a suede nude chunky pump.

Since beige has completely been replaced by shades of grey in home design, it is not surprising that grey (pewter) is replacing beige in shoes.

DKNY website paired it with sneakers - https://www.donnakaran.com/product/lace+dress+with+handkerchief+hem.do?sortby=ourPicks&from=Search&selectedOption=564891

silver shoes bought - they fit great and are comfortable (I am hard to fit) - https://www.famousfootwear.com/en-US/Product/76648-1043060/Touch+of+Nina/Silver/Womens+Noralee+Dress+Sandal.aspx#store=02088&resultsmode=

Nice shoes & great price! Good job!

Did I miss the time of day for the wedding?

I like the idea of a taupe (flesh color) if it is during the day and pewter if it is in the evening.

Personally, my legs are short, so I love a taupe shoe as it helps elongate the look of my legs. However, I also think pewter is fun (was coming here to suggest that but others beat me to it. I think silver for spring/summer, pewter for fall/winter with metallics) for an evening wedding.

Thanks all for the help. This is kind of a big deal as I haven’t been to a wedding in 30 years and the last fancy dress up gala I attended was over 15 years ago. The wedding is a friend’s daughter whom I have known since she was born (a contemporary of my daughter). I only have the save the date card, so I don’t know the time. It is early October, Saturday (I am assuming evening) at a very upscale local venue. I don’t know when the next fancy occasion will arise (although I would think it will be less than 15 years from now), so I didn’t want to invest a lot of money in accessories.

I like them! I have a similar pair I wore with a long navy blue dress once.

I am so glad I bought silver accessories. I just found out the wedding attire is “formal - pull out your Sunday best”

LOL - I actually never heard of the prohibition of navy/black together. (I do know the old White Memorial Day / Labor Day rule… but it seems outdated now… so same could be true of navy/black - the model in the navy dress link had black shoes)
