Scary stuff…Deceased identified as Eric Wilkins, 22, of Hopewell, Va.

My heart goes out to his family. I can’t imagine anything more painful than losing a child so senselessly.

Horrific. You send your kids to a place like that so that they will be safe.

Since a higher and higher percentage of the public is toting a gun, is anyone really safe anywhere?

This is every parent’s nightmare … there but for the grace of God go any of us. As for toting guns, my BIL has a concealed weapon permit and I recently learned he carries a small pistol with him just about everywhere. Knowing him, he does it because he can…

So God WANTS some people to be shot, otherwise God would save them?

I don’t think a supreme being has anything to do with this.

They had a stabbing on campus last month during a homecoming celebration. Last week a football player was arrested in NC for beating a rival football team’s star player badly enough that he would miss the next game. Last year two VSU underclassmen drowned in a hazing event and in another situation a student fled to his home state after committing a robbery/homicide off campus.

Consolation…

That person’s use of that phrase doesn’t mean that. The person isn’t suggesting that God wanted that person shot. If that were true, then God would have “made sure” that those who attemped to kill Hitler would have suceeded.

Ditto post 7.

The police have arrested a teen and charged him with the murder.

OMG! http://www.timesdispatch.com/news/local/crime/hopewell--year-old-arrested-in-death-of-vsu-student/article_03ed9216-535b-11e3-b4b6-0019bb30f31a.html

It looks like the teen arrested shot at someone else and the victim was struck by the bullet.

mom2, I think you have pointed out the essential fallacy at work, but I will not derail the thread further by going in to it. I shouldn’t have mentioned it in the first place, because this is not the place for a theological debate. Mea culpa.

Sheesh, people, it’s just an expression that means it could have been any of our kids … Thanks, Mom2 and Jonri.
