Shopping for a new frying pan ?

This is my first in a series of non-college topics ! I just bought a STARFRIT frying pan ,and it is truly amazing .It is chemical free ,non stick and partially cast iron ,so you can cook at high temps . And did I mention it is easy to clean ? OMG ,I sound like a commercial ! But wait…you know the drill .

I like my Caphalon.

Around here the commercials run almost continuously for OrGREENiC ceramic-coated nonstick pans.

Has anyone used one of these?

I have some calphalon and all clad…love my fry pans :D

Starfrit is a GREEN frying pan as well .Can you cook at high temps with Calphalon ?

Faux…I had to go and check out that frying pan. I went to Amazon. It got RAVE reviews by folks initially but many of the reviews say it really didn’t hold up. Most say the food sticks as time goes on.

I really would like an All-Clad pan…but I’m not quite ready to pay All-Clad prices.

Thumper1-good to know -I will see how it does.

I have Analon and Calphalon. I like the Analon a bit better because the handle doesn’t get hot on the stovetop. I can put both in the oven up to 500 degrees. They clean up very nicely and have lifetime replacement. I doubt they are green and they probably have all kinds of chemicals in them because I have had them for over 15 years. .

I have a whole bunch of Analon Pro pans bought over a number of years at Marshalls and TJMaxx. They have held up very well and I like them a lot. We also have a larger Calphalon frying pan we like too.

I like my cast iron.

If you choose carefully, you can get the kind that can be used to increase or measure fitness, and also as a math exercise. :)

Sorry. Couldn’t resist.

OMG, I love the video!!!

Why would anybody waste 3 decent frying pans ? I thought he could show his strength in a less wasteful way !

Id like to see him do that with my cast iron! BTW could he help me move some rocks in my garden?

Ogreenic emails shows up in my spam filter almost daily. I would never give my money to a company that advertises via spam.

I see from the FAQ on the Starfrit website that they claim their pans are only stick resistant, not nonstick, and do require the use of a small amount of oil. Not a problem for me, but I know some people want to be able to fry and saute oil-free.

We have a ceramic pan, but i’m pretty sure it isn’t one of the Ogreenic ones. We got it off of QVC, but i cannot remember its name.

^ How does it work compared to teflon or other non-stick surfaces?

I found it to be less “sticky”, still needed a bit of oil, but not as much as the others. Likewise, you can use it at high heats unlike some of the other kinds and, in my opinion, these have lasted better than the last set. They clean easier too.

I love my cast iron pan and use all the time. I have a bunch of cheap teflon pans that I replace from time to time. A tiny one for my one egg breakfast, a medium one for fish (because fish smells tend to stay in my cast iron), and a really big one dh likes for bacon.

I love my all clad d5’s. They cook great and clean so easily. Expensive yet so worth it. Wish I had known they were worth it years ago-would have saved lots of $$ spent on inferior pans.
