My last semester is suppose to be in the fall however, I’m short one credit. I have been trying to work with my adviser but they are saying I’m out of luck since I can’t drive up to the main campus or take another 3 credit class. I have a full class load already and am using the FASFA. My books for fall semester is also more then I thought it was going to be so I’m running short on money as well. I asked about life experience credit and self study but they said I couldn’t get anything. I feel at a dead end over 1 stupid credit. Has anyone had any problems like this or any idea how I can try to find a fix?
Thanks

Can you take an online class or one at the JC?

Do they offer a short winter semester after the fall semester ends? Either that, or take a 1-credit course in the spring? If they have a winter commencement they may still let you walk if you show proof you’re enrolled for the following semester to complete that one credit, but won’t receive your diploma until it’s done. Either that, or ask to take the credit elsewhere (community college or online, somewhere affordable that will transfer).

Any chance you can drop a non-lab science course for a course that has a lab or something like that?

Sadly not, all the classes I’m taking in the fall is required. Also they have no 1 credit class for me to take online, and since I’m using the FASFA I can’t go back for one semester for one credit. I have to be full time to get any aid.

You do NOT have to be full time to get federal aid (which is the aid you qualify for based on your efc… What you call fafsa aid, but fafsa is just a form).

Can you drop a non required three credit class for a four credit?

Is there a one credit gym class or practicum (like getting one credit for writing for the school newspaper) or an independent study?

You should be able to use federal aid for one credit, but, if not, how much does a one credit course cost? Do you have a job? You should be able to pay a few hundred dollars for a one credit course this summer or next winter if you work a little and save.

Will you have completed the required credits (usually 60) on this campus. Did you transfer there or start as a Freshman? Can you take a class online from a 4 year or CC in your home state and have it transferred over. Go to a CC for a gym class? You need your adviser to answer these questions now. Why can’t you take an extra class (whether it be 1 or more credits) in the Fall? When you say you are taking a full class load… how many credits is this?
