Short answer question help PLEASE!

Hi all,

I’m currently in the process of completing the short answer section but I’m a bit confused about this question: “Describe an experience where you had to adjust to a culture other than your own.”

Would it be okay to talk about adjusting to a new job (work culture?) or is this question specifically directed racial culture?

I would really appreciate if someone could help me with this- I tried emailing the admissions office but I received an email saying that assistance will be delayed due to thanks giving.

Not racial specifically. You could talk about visitng another country, participating in a religious celebration that is not part of your identity, having a friend from another country/background, etc.

I just want to double-check @chca123, are you an international applicant or are you a U.S. citizen?

As for the question, you have a lot of freedom to answer it how you would like. Obviously, you want to answer the question as well as you can, but keep in mind that this is an opportunity for you to tell the admissions committee more about yourself, for example: your interest in Pitt, your achievements, how you feel you would flourish here, etc.

Hi @hailtopitt1787 , I will be applying as a International freshman for fall 2016 and thank you for clearing that up for me.

@hailtopitt1787 Did you guys change the questions or something? That one wasn’t there when I filled them out a few months ago.

@cheeki2breeki, there are different sets of questions for U.S. and International applicants.
