For the short response,

2) Recall a compliment you received that you especially value. What was it? From whom did it come?

do you guys think it would be weird/inappropriate to cite a fortune cookie?

I’m finding it really hard to come up with a good response to this question; I’ve never had someone give me a life-changing pep talk.

Yes… I feel that would fall under “impersonal.”

It doesn’t have to be impressive! I heard that these short takes barely count c: just talk about your friends, or even teachers and parents? Maybe you got complimented on your specialties but it was on a different aspect… for example, (I did not use this but I guess I could) someone once described to me how “serene” my painting made her feel, and it was really flattering because it was not the usual “omg so realistic!!!” sort of comment I always receive. Her comment made me feel that I was reaching the next level/etc, I guess.

On my actual short answer I quoted my friend, who observed that I tried to be unbiased and fair as possible.

Now I’m rethinking if I should change my short answer… eh.

I hope I helped, hahaha.
