Shortest majors

what majors do require the least number of courses in CAS? Thanks.

No matter what you major in, you will have to have at the very least 32 classes (C.U.s) to graduate which is about 4 classes a semester.

There’s a link to the page that details exactly how many courses are required for each major. Have fun looking.

thanks, very helpful link. Do you know if elementary and intermediate german count towards the required 12.5 CU for major? I was looking at the website and I do not think that they count. However, I want to be sure whether they count or not.

Just email someone from the dep’t.

No. The only courses that count toward the GRMN major or minor are the ones 200 level or above. If you are just starting German and want it to be your major, consider taking accelerated German so that you can get the elementary and intermediate out of the way in one year instead of two. It’s definitely possible to do a German major even if you took only the 100 levels before Junior year, but it’s tough, and you need to take a lot of classes those last two years.

Thanks Chrisw. Are you a german major or minor? Do you know how difficult are these 200+ level courses? (for example compared to econ, poli sci or psych)
