Should a friend write an additional recommendation letter?

Hello. I’m going to apply this year and I already asked for two teachers and for my counselor to write the recommendation letters… they know me well, so I think their letter will be great.

However, it is possible to send an additional recommendation letter, and I’d like to know if I can submit a letter from a friend of mine. I know him since 2014 and we’ve created lots of projects, including an app that won a Google competition in our country and also a startup that is doing well… moreover, we moved to the biggest city in my country to live together and dedicate time for our startup (I’m taking a gap year  ).

Is it ok if he writes a recommendation letter for me?

No!! Absolutely not. Just stick with letters from your two teachers and guidance counselor.

Unless the school is like Dartmouth which asks for a peer rec, then no. More recs does not equal a better application package. Often, the thicker the file, the thicker the kid.

Agree, no. Any additional recs, if a college even accepts them, should be from someone who can provide a different perspective about you, such as an employer or coach.

Another no – unless the college specifically asks for a peer recommendation which is quite rare.
