<p>cornell - low reach
university of chicago - low reach
northwestern - low reach
claremont colleges - match</p>

<p>low reaches would be high matches if it wasnt for the GPA</p>

<p>He should definitely apply. The only way he can be sure he won’t get in anywhere is if he doesn’t apply at all. </p>

<p>His SAT scores are amazing and if he’s a great writer, it could make up for his GPA. However, he definitely needs some ECs.</p>

<p>yeah, his gpa and ap scores are kinda low but i think being half hispanic should help. does he have an upward curve in his grades?</p>

<p>He should try! You never know. All these schools have different factors when they consider students, so I don’t think anyone can say what’s a high reach or low reach… I’m sure one of the schools will accept him!</p>

<p>I’d say it’s certainly worth applying, as you never know exactly what these schools are looking for in a given year. He’s not guaranteed admission, obviously, but he certainly has a shot.</p>

<p>I think University of Chicago would appreciate his great writing because it seems like a creative and quirky school (if your friend is like that). His GPA seems a bit low for cornell (idk about the other schools), but I dont think it would do harm to apply. Hopefully his essays and ECs will be good too.</p>

<p>I think he has a great chance, you never know with the ivies! As long as he has good EC’s and is passionate about something, along with good essays he should be fine.</p>

<p>Applying never hurts. It’s just a bit more work on your part. I would say he won’t get in to any of these schools, but hey even if there is a 0.000001% chance, it’s worth trying.</p>
