Should he even try?

My son’s English teacher nailed me the other day and insisted that he should apply to Harvard. (She adores him.) It would never have occurred to him or me to even try. What do you think?

No hooks except his teacher thinks his personality will count for a lot.

Passions are writing, improv and drama. He’s been in a million productions both on stage and behind the scenes in various places. Drama Club Vice President. Improv Players. Won a state competition for being in the Best Show and Best Comic Timing. If he could get involved with the Harvard Lampoon or the Hasty Pudding Club, he’d be in heaven.

National Honor Society. National Merit Scholar Commended Student. Volunteered: Costa Rica wildlife project, local community theater, Guttenberg Reading Project

If he would like to go, then sure, why not? Might as well give it a shot! Good luck to him.

He needs one more SAT-II.
He has great ECs. He should make the most of them. He’ll need a great essay and excellent recs.

Give it a try. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

The Hasty Pudding Club is a private social club with admittance by invitation only. Hasty Pudding Theatricals is the group open to drama students (by the process of “comping”).

They want THREE SAT IIs? Yikes.

Yes, Harvard (and Georgetown) require three SAT IIs.

If he plans on taking the 3rd SAT II, then today is the final day for registering without being imposed a late fee.
