Should I acknowledge my low test scores?

I’m applying to Brown, Cornell, NYU, Wash. U, and U. of Rochester (and also some in-state schools). I have low test scores, but I have a 4.0 GPA, Rank 1 in class, and lots of EC’s. SHould I acknowledge on my application that I realize that I have low scores? Will they frown upon that or think it’s a good thing?

Scores: How low are we talking here. I sure hope you aren’t talking about something between 1300-1500.

Jerod

no matter what your scores are, i wouldn’t do it… obviously you know what you got, good or bad. they will know the same thing. acknowledging it will only reveal your preoccupation with scores.

What are your scores?

I’ve got low scores and much better GPA, rank, ECs… I am curious to see what others say. I would agree with Harpingchic… they know your scores, they know they are in comparison lower than your other stats and the essays and such are there to further explain what is not explained in figures not defend figures.

…basically, I wouldn’t go into it.

You definitely should acknowledge oyouir low test scores.

It doesn’t matter whether or not you acknowledge them because the school is still going to se them when they come in. If you got a chance to wathch the Amherst video about what goes on inside of the admissions committee you will notice that your scores willbe evaluated in context of the opportunities which you have been given

well, my sat is 1200 AHHHHHH. i guess i agree with anovice and harpingchic about not saying anything. i live in southeast KY, so oppurtunities dont come my way very often (i guess thats a plus). cd8705: why do you think i should?
