I’m currently a junior in Illinois, and we’re required to take the ACT to graduate high school, so most kids take only the ACT. However, I’ve heard that schools out east, even if they don’t outright say it, prefer the SAT over the ACT. Is this true, and if I’m applying to schools out east, should I be taking the SAT as well as the ACT? I don’t really want to, and my scores for the ACT are better, but if I should, I will. Thanks :)

There’s no outright said preference and all schools will take a ACT score. A High ACT > Low SAT. High SAT > Low ACT. “2400 SAT > 36 ACT”(this is why people say its preferred).

I know there’s no way I could get a 2400 on the SAT, and all my ACT scores (from practice tests) have been higher than my SAT scores (again, from practice tests). I guess I’ll just stick with the ACT. Thanks :)
