First, I have to say I should of done better…

Basically, I found out today that I failed out of nursing school with a 69. I needed a 70.

However, I figured I passed so I was very shocked. I think what is most upsetting is the 1pt difference.

According to my calculations I should of received a 72.

There was 6 tests worth 5% each
1 final worth 50%
quizzes 3 worth 15%
1 pre exam worth 5%

In the syllabus it says, “Pre exam counts for 5% “only if” a score of 70 or greater is achieved” “if you do not score a 70 or greater you will not receive any points”

I was told numerous times that the pre exam does not hurt me that I just won’t get points. I figured that meant it wouldn’t be counted… However they are counting the pre exam as 5% of a zero… i actually made a 66.

So should they not count that at all? I feel the syllabus isn’t clear on it and the teach presently isn’t budging… I mean 1 point!!!

I feel devasted right now and still absorbing this. I worked so hard. I study so much…

Your best bet would be to contact your professor to see if he or she will explain how your grade was broken down specifically. It could have been an error.

I don’t really understand the quote from the syllabus. So, if you don’t get a 70 on the exam, you effectively get a 0?

Maybe I misunderstood your earlier post, but you wrote “I found out today that I failed out of nursing school” If you don’t pass this class and fail out, you won’t be a student anymore. no? In which case those instructors and dept head will not be an issue…
