Should I apply as a freshman or a transfer applicant?

<p>Hello, I’m currently a freshman in the National University of Singapore but I’m looking to transfer to colleges (hopefully NYU, UC Berkeley, UCLA, Columbia, somewhere in an urban city with an indie music scene on and off campus) because I want to take advantage of all the gigging opportunities. </p>

<p>Currently I’m in the middle of my first semester at a somewhat liberal arts-type course with an undeclared major, but I’m leaning towards a degree in literature or art history. I’ve noticed that the UC Berkeley doesn’t accept sophomore transfers, so should I wait til I’ve completed my sophomore year here before attempting to transfer or is it possible to transfer as a freshman since I haven’t completed an academic year at my current university yet? Right now I’m doing quite well with more or less an A grade for most modules, since I understand I’ll have to submit college transcripts.</p>
