Should i apply for UC

Hello i’m a vietnamese student and i really want to apply for the UC but don’t know if i stand any chance of being accepted. My grades at school are fairly good, and i often rank 1st or 2nd in class (its size is over 40 students). However my gpa (3.75~3.8) can’t be considered high when compared to other international students since we arent offered anything like AP IB or honor class. I took the sat this Jan and am waiting for the result, but as i estimate i would only score ~2000. I will retake it this Oct. If i apply, i will certainly hve to ask for fin aid. Therefore i think that my chance of acceptane is very slight, and dont know should i go for it…:(. Pls give me some advice, tks…

If you don’t apply, you have a 0% chance. If you do, you have a chance. Just know that scores aren’t everything. Would you rather give yourself a chance at being accepted or save $75? I think the choice is clear~~~

Your chances are below average (unless you failed to mention a few killer ECs) and asking for FA will make it even tougher, but if you feel you have strong essays, I would encourage you to apply if you can spare the application fee.

Yeah i got it. Just wait for my sat score and if there is st new about my admission profile i will update here. Guess that i will still go for it, anw as i have researched, my app fee will be waivered considering my fin status. Tks soo much

I got my score,2140 for the 1st time taking the test… Should i retake it this oct?

Yes, retake it. 2140 is a good score, but not very competitive for schools like UChicago. Many students improve their SAT score significantly the second time around. Good luck!
