I submitted my questbridge application and I thought that I would be a finalist, but I was not. This could be because I accidentally left my activities section and honors/award section unfinished, or maybe my non-custodial parent makes too much money, or maybe I just wasn’t good enough academically. I’ll never know.
Anyway, I want to apply to Rice and Brown but I am not sure if there are any benefits to applying through questbridge since I was not named a finalist.

Thank you all for your time! I am happy to answer any questions.
If you were not named a QB finalist, there is simply no longer an option of applying through QuestBridge at all. Basically, you are simply now on your own. QuestBridge will not be forwarding your QB application to anyone, and you will not be gaining any automatic fee waivers to QB Partners due to a QB finalist status. Instead, you will need to apply as instructed by each college or university, potentially applying for other possible fee waivers - if applicable.
Interesting… I do not recall this even being an option 3 yrs ago when my older daughter applied thru QB. Sorry that I misspoke above… as it does seem now that they will be willing to forward your QB application for certain schools. If you are only going to apply to those potential colleges, it does seem like it could save you from having to fill out the Common Application too. But if you are going to have to fill out the Common Application anyhow… I am not sure what their offer will do for you.
While some QB Partners may allow you to still send them the QB Application thru QB, I fail to see the advantage for you in doing so. Most colleges or universities will still require the Common Application, which you can easily use to apply to even these QB Partners. Plus, I do not see the advantage in pointing out to QB Partners that you applied to QB but were not named a Finalist. And you will still likely have to apply for fee waivers, as you will not be receiving an automatic QB-based fee waiver.
I guess that you can read thru QB’s full explanation as to why this may be a good idea for you, and you can clearly choose to take advantage of it as an option.
