Albright College and Washington and Jefferson College both sent me apps so that I can apply early. They even waived the application fee and said I don’t need to write an essay (Albright). The only problem is that it doesn’t mention if this is ED or EA. I won’t apply if they’re ED because I have other colleges I want to apply to. Plus, they’re not even on my list of colleges I’m considering. So what should I do?

You can apply early action if you wish…but only if you think those colleges are a good “fit” for you. Otherwise, it’s not really worth the time and effort.

If they waived the application fee and it won’t take too long, then it really can’t hurt to apply … at the same time, however, why would you? Have you ever heard of those schools? Could you see yourself going there? Do you like their academic and extracurricular programs? Can you afford the tuition? There’s a bunch of questions you need to ask yourself before you spend time on the application.

It sounds like you are in contact with these people if they waived the application fee and told you to forget the essay so I recommend simply contacting them again and asking what the intent with the application is. If you are not actually in contact with them then check their website’s EA application form and see if it is the same (you could do this first). If the forms aren’t the same then perhaps just fill out the online EA one.
