Income bracket: 500k+
Race: Indian male
Extra’s: 4 years of varsity soccer, 5 technically but I didn’t get any playing time
4x beta
4x green team
4x math team chances are I will win awards senior year
2x debate (school only had 2 years of it)
2years academic bowl team
Track senior year and will also most likely hit great numbers in multiple events and possible earn lower level scholarships
Internship freshman year with a startup gas jobbership with million dollar revenues
Internship with a ultra large management and hospitality firm in Atlanta with 300m+ under management and 500+ employees 10th grade
11th grade internship with a innovating company that developed and patented the needless injection. Has world patents and won many, many, many awards
In 10th grade summer, me and my cousin in California (I live in Atlanta) started a non profit with a few other people that specializes in child education. I was named CFO/secretary (treasurer) recently.
A recent trip back to my homeland and a recent family catastrophe in conjunction with disputes and politics I started my own non profit with a ex Indian federal politician and a Georgia tech grad and India club president. Both charities have been very successful and both have been granted tax exemption by the federal government.
The latter charity has project annual gross of over 100,000 this year alone. (As you all probably know projections are always ultra conservative)
Essays: I’ve always been called a deep thinker and I’ve even had to get professional help to suppress my analysis so I feel they will be good, if not very good.
Recommendations: headmaster and economics teacher will give one - this will one be about my extensive knowledge of economics and “intellectual curiosity”
Other one not sure who I will ask so I will not speculate.

I was also co-captain for my soccer team for school 2 times and once for my club Travel team.

Volunteer hours: more than 100 excluding my charity vocational duties

I also did some light medical shodowing to see what I feel about medicine but my passion and need to help others always brought me back to philanthropy.

Intended major: economics and a minor in political science
(As you can probably see, I intend on entering politics and as anybody who wants enter politics I was to reach the highest point)
Class rank: not top 2. School does not rank after that but top 10%
Also I had the hardest rigor of classes by a lot. I took 3-4 more APs than anybody above me in ranking.
Thank you to all who bothered reading with and I apologize for all the grammar and spelling errors as I’m typing on my phone.

Yes you should apply to UChicago, why not? It’s a reach for you, but you should definitely have a few reaches on your college list.

Is there any reason why it’s a reach?

After re-reading your post more carefully - it’s still a reach, but not as much as i thought it was, you have a lot of great extracurriculars, as well as a solid GPA and SAT score. Definitely think you have a pretty good chance if you apply early. Good luck!

How funny, I plan on double-majoring in political science and economics! Very similar, hahaha. You definitely have some strong hooks, I would put it at a low reach with a good shot of getting in.

It is a reach for everyone, not just you. But you have a fine chance!

Honestly, I think you have a good chance of getting in, even though it is still quite a reach. You have a high GPA, a great SAT, and a lot of other stuff that will definitely make you stand out! I wish you the best ! :)>-

UChicago and other Ivy League level colleges are reaches for everyone. You should never put them down as matches or safeties, because as College Confidential posters love to declare, they are “crapshoots”.

Hmm the comments are warming, but yet the uncertainty is cold. I understand that uc is a reach or all, hence the reason I’m asking if I should apply. It is certainly not a match of a safety for me.

You should definitely apply! You might be pleasantly surprised!

Scenario #1: You apply, you get in, you are happy!
Scenario #2: You apply, you get deferred/rejected, you might not be as happy, but you definitely know that you put in the effort and there will be no “what ifs”

Scenario #3: You don’t apply, you CLEARLY don’t get in.

Take that into account, and realize that you do have a solid chance amidst the pool of qualified applicants. Best of luck!

You are really well qualified and should definitely apply. That being said understand that there are people just as good as you if not better that were rejected. Use your essays to stand out and just be confident. If everything falls into place, you should have a good chance.

Also if it helps, I’ve also help Q&A sessions at a few colleges over fundraising and humanitarian ideas.

It seems that I should apply, but still be cautious and careful to not take admission for granted. I have always had a few safety schools lined up, regardless. Also, by advice of my semi-incompetent counselor, I will be applying to HYSPC (yes I slightly made up my own acronym). Any chance at those schools for anybody that bothered reading this comment as well as uchicago?

Thanks in advance

Thanks to those who helped soothe my nervous curiosity.
