I live in California and I love how there is only one comprehensive application for UCs. However the $70 fee is steep and I don’t want to pay it if there’s no reason or chance. Please chance me for UCLA?
ACADEMICS
3.97 GPA unweighted(All A’s and one B in AP Chemistry)
Junior classes: regular history, Introduction to Analysis/Calculus, French 3, Honors English, Biotechnology, Advanced Drawing and Painting(skipped two lanes of art with a portfolio and interview to get here), AP Chemistry
Senior classes: regular history, AP Calculus AB, AP French, honors English, Advanced drawing and painting 2, AP Biology.
ACT: 35 composite, all categories 35 or 36 and 32 in science, writing 12.
CLUBS
Started Henna Club at school with my friend. We have done henna at a community/city-wide event as well as a school event. We are trying to be even more active though.
ACTIVITIES
Volunteered at library for over 100 hours.
Current volunteer at extremely well known children’s hospital, started in November of 2014.
INTERESTS
Film making-Before high school I spent all my free time making videos and uploaded over 50 videos to youtube. This summer I want to start again because I will have more time. I made a video last month though, yay! 
Photography-I have both a regular photography blog as well as a food photography blog. I know social media doesn’t seem like a real hobby or anything but it’s important to me and I love it.
OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS AND EXPERIENCES
Received the Certificat D’Honneur two years in a row from the National French Contest and might get it again this year. Results aren’t in yet though.
Did the “Future Physicians” summer program at USC last year, shadowed doctors and the like.
SUMMER PLANS
Pick up more shifts in the hospital.
Get a job at a local cafe.
10-day program–internship, shadowing doctors in a small hospital, 20 different fields.(I applied today and I’m SO EXCITED!!!)
Make videos again(kinda last priority though as I don’t know how much time I’ll have).
OTHER
Not including French, I’m 100% fluent in English and Russian.
Only one in my family who isn’t an immigrant. Consequently, first generation(other than my sister and cousin) to go to college in the US.
My sister went to UCLA for undergrad, then got a phd there after 7 years of research. So I’ve spent a huge amount of time in Los Angeles. I know the area, as well as the campus, extremely well. I’ve been going there since I could walk.
