Should I apply to UMiami?

I have already finished all of my applications to my reaches/matches/safeties. Sending an application to the university of miami would only cost me the fees (no extra essays). approximately $80.

However, I would only attend if I got a full-ride/close to a full-ride or substantial merit aid.

My stats: 34 act, 3.9 unweighted, 4.7 weighted, full IB, AP scholar with distinction, 800 MathII, 780 Physics

Also, any insights into their social life + engineering/pre-med departments.

Basically trying to decide if I should apply. thanks.

You’d probably get the $24k yearly scholarship (the highest merit scholarship they award by just submitting their application) with those stats, which isn’t quite a full ride. There’s a higher scholarship than that that’s full tuition but you have to complete another application and interview to get considered.

Hmm. But it says that:

Everyone who applies is automatically considered for up to the University Scholarship (24k/yr). The Isaac Bashevis Singer scholarship (full tuition) you get invited to apply for and have to interview on-campus.

As for the social aspect…heck it’s in Miami! :)

At least apply to find out what scholarships you’d get. Do you also qualify for FA? If so, maybe you’ll get a good FA package of merit and FA.

You have desirable stats. I don’t know if Miami uses “Enrollment Managers,” but if they do, they might find a way to attract you.

Okay. but now I don’t know if I want to go there.

Can anyone tell me about the study body?

It is very diverse.

It might be easier if you let us know what you are looking for in a school and we can tell you if we feel it might be a fit.

Also, go to the Miami page and read all the threads there. Lots of discussion about this topic.
