well i have been thinking about applying to UF since ill be getting free tuition here… i am planning on becoming an aerospace engineer and wanted to know whether UF has a good engineering program in this field…
(btw im also applying to University of southern cal, ucla, and notre dame which have amazing aerospace engineering programs)
I was also wondering whether a UF degree in engineering will really compare to a degree from the other universities im applying to…

another question… how is the drug scene in this school… is everyone straight-edge and only drinks??? cause i like drinking and everything but will much rather be doing other stuff… and is there like a big music scene … like do bands ever go there to play from up north??
thanks…

I hate to say this, but look at UCF engineering too. They have some excellent programs.

“Straight-edge and only drinks?” Drinking makes you not “straight-edge”, especially as it’s illegal under 21. By “other stuff” do you mean drugs or non-inebriating activities? It looks like you need to reevaluate your priorities if one of your college standards is the availability of substances, but alas, I’ll end my lecture.

Oh, and UCF, from my understanding, has a fairly large drug scene.

yeah i know usc has really good engineering programs and offers a minor in astronautics engineering which seems really interesting…
on the other hand, UF lets you obtain a bachelors in aerospace and mechanical in about 5 years…

well i figure i will apply to both + ucla and notre dame and, if accepted, compare the financial aid

and…
my priority is not availability of drugs but rather the scene… i have found out that people that use often have my same music taste and enjoy doing the same things (not necessarily drug related) i like to do…
but don’t get me wrong, this is definitely NOT a deciding factor since i currently attend a straight-edge school and get along with the people quite well.

Not sure how your stats look but if aerospace is what you want to study, I would look at Georgia Tech, there program is ranked 2nd in the nation.

my stats are in the UC berkeley forum…
yeah i know ga-tech has a great aerospace program…
BUT i heard the party scene sucks… there are barely any good-looking girls… and the people overall are pretty boring…
i know my education is more important, but at the same time i don’t want to be depressed for (what are supposed to be) some of the best years of my life…

It all depends who you know and who your friends are. I went to GT for my undergrad and had an awesome time. Atlanta is a big city and theres always something to do, plus the girls from Emory are hot as hell, personally my x was from UGA, and all the girls from UGA party in ATL since athens is a farmers town

I’d apply at the very least since theres no harm in it and then perhaps decide if you want to go after you get some responses back from your other choices. As for drugs and etc, there are always drugs available and there are plenty of people/groups of people that are really into it. Its college afterall and UF is the #1 party school for the moment. As for the music scene, I have no clue; I’d say its not good at UF since its Gainesville and not a major city for anything besides the college. But then again, I haven’t even gone there, I’m gonna be going for the first time in 2 weeks for MSE(their program is actually really good). So don’t take my advice too serious.
