Should I Ask Another Teacher for a Second Letter of Rec?

Hello,

I recently asked my AP Art History teacher for a letter of rec, and she accepted my request. However, my second teacher that I was going to ask for a non-elective/core letter of rec was fired last year, and I currently have no core class teacher that I can think of that will write me an outstanding letter of rec.

I was thinking of asking my junior year physics teacher to write me my second letter, since I got a C the first semester but was able to rise it up to a B the second semester and got an A on the second semester final. My notes and classwork were color coordinated and often quite organized. However, I struggled a lot in physics both semesters, and my teacher was not the most patient with those who did not understand the content (ie: I spent a majority of my study hall periods in her class asking questions, but she would often become slightly annoyed by me asking questions that seemed simple to her). I also was not too close with my teacher, so she does not know much about me as a person.

I am confident that my AP Art History teacher will write me an excellent teacher letter of recommendation. Is it worth it to ask/have my physics teacher for a core class teacher letter of rec, knowing that it might not be that great?

Thanks in advance for your help! :)

Schools will really like your demonstrated persistence with trying to do better in the class by using so much of your study hall time. You can certainly use that experience for an essay or short answer situation. If you ask the physics teacher for an LOR, be upfront with her and ask her to focus on the fact that you sought out extra help and really succeeded in the class. From an academic perspective, she probably knows more about you than realize.
