Should I be a student tutor?

So my schedule for senior year will have one open space because I took seven courses my junior and sophomore year, which got me ahead in terms of credits. I will be having 6 classes first semester and 7 classes 2nd semester because I will add my sport (track). Even after adding track I still need to fill up one slot. So I was thinking about being a student tutor/TA for my Pre-Calc teacher (A’s both semesters). How would this look to colleges? You also get a letter grade for the class and elective credits.

Why wouldn’t you do this? Of course colleges will like it.

It is a good way to fill your time slot, but don’t use this to please the adcom. My D1 did that in her junior and senior years during lunch time. It is only part of the school volunteering activities within one item.

The op doesn’t seem to be just trying to create a useless filler. This seems a very good idea to me because OP has an empty slot. I am not a believer in filling every minute of a school day with academic classes as a senior. As long as the rest of the schedule has the right classes, I think it’s positive. The OP seems interested in it and will be assisting in calc. No idea what OP intends to major in, but I think this is an excellent way of showing another side of the applicant.

@billcsho I’m not sure what you mean by “adcom”. Would you please clarify?

@Lindagaf My schedule for next year is
AP Calc AB
AP Gov/Econ (1 semester each)
Anatomy/Physiology
English 12
Weight training (conditioning for track)
Student tutor
And add Track for 2nd semester.
Total first:6 classes
Total 2nd: 6 classes + sport
I am interested in an Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering major.

Adcom means admissions committee. Where’s your science and foregin language? Have you got at least bio chem and physics and two, years of FL? If you are aiming high, you really need at least three years of FL. If you arent aiming high, you might be fine. Talk to your counselor at school.

@Lindagaf My science is Anatomy/Physiology. I have taken three years of Spanish, 1 year of chemistry, 1 year of AP Physics. 1 year of Biology. I decided not to take a foreign language for my senior year. Also, my school does not offer biochem.

I forgot a comma between bio and chem. Your schedule seems fine then.
