Should I be applying to more selective schools?

Hi, I am a high school senior and most schools on my list have around a 30% acceptance rate (UMich, Northeastern) I have 4.4 weighted GPA and my rank is 16/380. I got straight A’s junior year taking AP Calc AB, AP Bio, AP Lang, AP Psych and APUSH. This year I am taking two honors biomedical science classes including an internship with a hospice as well as AP US Gov, AP Stat and AP Lit. I got a 31 on my ACT as well. I was wondering if I could actually be considered if I applied to Ivies, Northwestern or Stanford (Dad and Gpa attended, would be legacy)

Thanks!

Forgot to mention I have a lot of extracurriculars including two varsity sports and I am captain for one of them.

So every year, there are people who apply to reach schools and miraculously get in. A long time ago, I was one of them. Most people don’t get in which is what makes them reaches. With varsity sports and legacy, perhaps, if you think you might want to go there, apply. Sure you’ll be considered. You’re already applying to schools that are more of a target so if you don’t get in to the reach schools, you won’t be surprised or crushed. But why not take a chance on one or two?

You need a safety too.
