I am taking an introductory econ course and might while I do not think the class is all that difficult, I might get in the B/B+ range for my grade. Should I be thinking about changing majors? Is not getting an A in an intro course for your major costly?

Not getting an A in an intro course for you major isn’t costly. You just need to strive to do better in your other required classes that count towards your major in the near future.

You start think about changing majors when you find yourself getting anything in the D or lower range, because in most cases, getting anything lower than a C in a course that you want counted towards your major, DOES NOT get counted.

I wound up getting a B in the intro course for my major. Just made one too many silly mistakes on each test.

Also remember that at some schools these lower level courses can be tough because they want to weed out people who aren’t super ultra good/serious at it.

Like DC said, lower level courses tend not to be much easier than the upper level ones. After all, if you start failing your major classes in junior year it’s kinda too late to switch.
