Should I become a chemical engineer?

I am a junior in high school who is in AP chemistry, AP U.S History, AP Language, and Honors Pre-Calc. I have a weighted GPA over 4.0. However when I took the ACT for my first time a got an extremely disappointing 23! I had hopes and dreams to become a chemical engineer but I feel like that score won’t cut it in such a hard major. I am going to take it multiple times to try and raise my score. I am certainly not the smartest kid out there but I work extremely hard and I love chemistry! I want to go into the organic consumer products specifically research and development I think it’s so cool! I have looked into University of Madison, Iowa State, and Perdue but I am hesitant because I don’t think I am smart enough to do well in chemical engineering. Also if I still continued to peruse chemical engineering are there better schools out there to look at?
