I’m an Asian Male International student that intends to apply to some colleges in the US.

I have taken the IB exams and my grades are as follows:
Physics HL – 7
Math HL – 7
Economics HL – 7
Chemistry SL – 7
English A: Language and Literature SL – 7
Chinese B SL – 7
Physics Extended Essay – A
Theory of Knowledge – A

I took the SATs as well and got:
Math – 800
Reading & Writing – 710
Essay – 20/24

Subject Tests:
Math II – 800
Physics – 800

Extracurriculars:
Science Club (Vice-President)
Christian Fellowship (Executive Committee)
Tennis (Chief Umpire)
Math Club (Member)
A Cappella Choir (Member)

Awards:
National Physics Olympiad Gold
National Math Olympiad Bronze
National Chemistry Olympiad Bronze
Asian Science Forum Represent
Multiple Math Competitions including AIME Qualifier
Deans List (Top 10%) in Math and Physics
Gold Medalist of multiple national science competitions

Voluntary:
My regular voluntary experiences involved tutoring less-privileged children in the neighbourhood near mine as well as peer-tutoring in school. I also participated in a few one-off events.

I have applied before to the following schools and have been rejected: MIT, Caltech, Harvey Mudd, Chicago, Princeton, and CMU.

Since then, I have been involved in governmental policy work that includes structural reorganization of some government entities, developing technological solutions to speed up certain processes, and organized movements for a cleaner and greener work environment.

This time I plan to apply for:

MIT
Chicago [Legacy]
Princeton
Columbia
Harvard
Yale
JHU

Those schools are reaches for everyone, so you are at risk of being shut out again. If you want to attend college in the USA, you should add some safety schools to your list.

I already have a place outside the US! I’m just wondering if it’s worth trying my luck again this time around.

So you’re applying as a transfer from whatever college you’re currently attending? Nah, probably not worth it.
Transfer admission is tougher than freshman admission for those types of schools.

Those schools are reaches for everybody, but I would argue that it could be worth applying too with your stats. Definitely seek a counselours advice at your college whether it’s worth applying too or not. Best of luck! :slight_smile:
