Should I bother applying to Duke?

Hey, did I tirck you? Did you think this was a “chances” post? aha, well, it’s (thankfully) not.

Okay, so, I’ll be honest. I’ve been debating about applying to Duke, but was not planning to until some CCers encouraged me to do so.

I want to apply because it is in the South (like Emory), but, unlike Emory, it has a BME major.

However, I have a problem. I am on winter break right now and I don’t think my college counseling office is sending stuff over break and Duke’s deadline is January 2!

Do you guys think I should just forget about applying to Duke, or do you think I should contact my GC and/or Duke?

I don’t really know what to do!

Thanks!

Also, I was looking at the stats for the class of 2012 on Duke’s website and the admittance rate for CAS vs E was 27% vs. 20%…so, does this mean it’s easier to get into engineering? That’s interesting (though it may be like that at other colleges as well and I’m just ignorant).

it’s fine. colleges understand some schools or teachers take a bit longer. Plus they have the lag period where they’re organizing all those apps but haven’t started looking at them. As long as you get your stuff in on time, the recs/transcripts can come later.

Okay, awesome!
