I got a 1990 (710 cr though) and a 3.53 uw, 3.7 w gpa and barely any ec’s. I still got accepted to gallatin:) apply!!!

Since I’m not afraid of appearing stoopid, what’s gallatin?

Gallatin school of individualized study it’s basically where you can create your own major concentration from components at nyu.

From what I’ve seen they’re big on cr there and stern, so I’m sure youd be fine for cas

My CR was 690, is gallatin different than cas? is gallatin this 2 yr associates thing?

Oh yeah, what about subject tests? I haven’t taken any but, registered for January Math1 & English Lit.

I haz 740 bio and 640 world history.
Hahaha I think Miranda might have been talking to me. Thanks =]

Gallatin is a full 4 year degree, just a different college, like CAS versus Stern versus Tisch.

Whats the order of difficulty of getting into each program? Im assuming stern business is the hardest. What about the rest though?

^In terms of SAT/ACT scores and GPA: 1. Stern 2. CAS 3. Gallatin / Steinhardt (much more holistic, I’m guessing) 4. Tisch / the others

However, Tisch admissions is probably the least predictable because it’s based on your portfolio… I believe it has the lowest acceptance rate of the NYU undergraduate schools.

go to ************** if you want a good estimate but I think you’ll get in

my chances . net

I applied. I sent in my 2000 (CR 670 M 670 W 660) SAT score. What are my chances?

^probably a high match for CAS. low reach for Stern. Steinhardt/Gallatin depends. LSP you’d be in.

Yeah I applied to CAS

Why do so many people who obviously have stats within range post “should i even bother” questions???

When I posted this, my stats weren’t in range. I retook the SAT

Your original stats were in range. However, note that because you’ve taken the SAT so many time, you come off as a professional test taker. (This is why most people say take it once, maybe twice. Multiple tests don’t look good. Also, every time you take the SAT, colleges consider the score RANGE. Not just the actual score. E.g. If you scored an X they considered + and - a specific number of points).

As to someone’s post about the 2.5 billion dollar endowment:
NYU has a very small endowment. Compared to other major schools, we lack a lot of resources. Consider: We have 20,000 undergrads and 20,000 graduate students. That 2.5 billion has to be used to (1) pay staff (2) pay for all the facilities (3) maintain facilities (4) purchase new facilities (5) update old facilities, etc, etc. NYU is in the heart of NYC meaning: Real estate is no where near cheap.

You’re pretty much a lock for CAS. If you’re ranked #8 in your school, it would take an awful SAT score/no extracurriculars to get knocked out. Your scores are right in the range, so don’t worry.

I got accepted to LSP! I look back at this thread, not knowing whether I should apply or not, and chuckle. To future applicants: just go for it
